Have a look at junior athletics times between 1960's to present and you will see that kids today are slower than both their parents and grand parents. No high tech training, no specialist diets, and certainly no supplements.
A lot of club records from the 60's and 70's still stand. Some of it can be explained by timing errors - but the majority of them are because of the nintendo effect.
Everything today is measured in dollars - and it's a massive problem because the perfect numeraire does not exist - and it's certainly not fiat money.
