seems to me we got Ugarkovic because he wasn't being paid by his old club (he basically got his release in lieu of being paid) - not sure how many other ex-pats we can snare on the same premise...

Although our image isn't the greatest it is a lot better than it was 12 months ago
We are on an upward spiral.
Yeah not lightning fast but we are moving forward
Our appeal is not as bad as you make out.
Other clubs will have locked in salary caps where as we should have some cash to spend to entice a couple of these blokes home
It is though imperative Millertime gets the foreigners right
Add in a bit of creativity in balancing our squad better by shipping a few out sign a couple of Aussies from rival sides pick up a couple of Aussies from OS and we are back competing genuinely for the 6
It used on purpose to note we have started the moving forward stuff he spruiked for months on end before going down with Tinkler
Speaking of imports, the impact of Fornaroli this season has been as big as any import in the 11 seasons of the A League. Technically he is up there with the best but he also has the fighting, mongrel, never-say-die attitude which many Uruguayans have instilled in them. This is why he has adapted well to our fairly physical A League while other technical players have failed.
Our Uruguayan from the first season, Corbo had that mongrel mentality too and would never take a backward step as soon as he crossed that white line.
Reckon it's worth a shot sussing out 1 or 2 Uruguayans for next season, a LB and a striker preferably.
I have been searching Uruguayan strikers off contract or coming off contract on transfermarkt, quite a few that I reckon would be worth a look at. Or if city don't fork out the marquee dollars fornaroli now probably deserves we can always throw a marquee spot at him for next season assuming we end up with wealthy owners
Now that's being pro-active Tommy!
I would love to have Bruno here too but I think by the time we get this ownership sorted out here will either be City's new marquee or overseas.
I believe he has stated that he doesn't want to talk contracts till the season has finished, which is what, another 3 weeks maximim if City play in the GF.

League of Ireland's goal of the month nominations for March - perhaps we could pick up a Keogh ourselves? ;)
Bruno signing for the Jets..
hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahaahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha
Don't make me laugh.
He's a bit old but available

Leo's Instagram suggests he's gone "beautiful time in Australia Newcastle goodbyes"
O'Caravan is wasted talent at the gyppos (actually knows where the goal is, runs into good positions, has mongrel in him etc - in all fairness the headbutt was on Manny Muscat, who didn't laugh at the irony of it ;) ), but unfortunately on a two year deal with the scum (even if you hate him you'd have to feel sorry for him stuck in that shite team for two years, no hope of parole, expect more headbutts next season to avoid the embarrassment of wearing palm trees on his chest for another goddamn year...)
Did anyone else see this in the herald....?
"Football Federation Australia are close to finalising the sale of the club to Chinese lighting magnate Martin Lee. The Herald understands that former Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna has been earmarked for a senior administration position in the new set-up. An American consortium headed by Jeff Von Schmauder also remain interested. FFA briefed Jets coaching and office staff last Thursday."
let the rebuild begin
1. Mark Birighitti - would love to keep but will go (maybe just sign him so we can sell him...)
3. Jason Hoffman - can go, started the season off okay but turns the ball over way too much
5. Ben Kantarovski - keep
6. Cameron Watson - no comment required
7. Enver Alivodic - thanks but no thanks
10. Leonardo - we saw what he can do but wont do it consistently
18. Josh Baressi - don't call us we'll call you
25. Brandon Lundy - don't call us we'll call you
28. Ryan Kitto - keep
2. Daniel Mullen - keep
8. Mateo Poljak - keep
11. Labinot Halti - hopefully recovers okay
12. Andy Brennan - don't call us we'll call you
14. Mitch Cooper - undecided
15. Themba Marlow - don't call us we'll call you
17. Radan Pavicevic - don't call us we'll call you
20. Ben Kennedy - depends who you get to replace birra
22. Lachlan Jackson - keep
4. Nigel Boogaard - how much we paying him?
24. Nick Cowburn - keep
ugar and nobby - KEEP!!
subsidise both BK's salary, use that to splash some extra cash at Birraz
Keep Hoff if he's not on too much coin, he's been good this season and shows some passion for the team
I was thinking it was Mullen who needed to go early, but as the seasons progressed it's clear Boogs needs to be culled, he's not worth being our captain, gets red carded every 3rd game and in general hasn't been playing as well as Mullen. Plus it's fair to believe he's probably on too much coin
we have some rubbish youth on our team which is a low point for us which I think has been rectified by Miller somewhat, signing Jackson, Cowburn, Uga and Kitto who have been our best youth players, and I'd say I'd only keep the ones he's signed as well as Coops
Crowley has left the Jets
http://www.theherald.com.au/story/38...es-jets/?cs=12
I'm not surprised given he hasn't featured in the first team calculations for some weeks. Brennan has moved ahead of him. That said, I thought he had more about him than Pavicevic.
From what I had heard he hadnt been even training with the first team in 3 months.
Rather bizarre if the kid gets a run as often as he did this season to not even be training to develop him up to standard.
Anyway no great loss
Kale was a far superior player and never got a look in
Blake Tuxford has left the Jets for Northcote in Victoria too. That's the same team Crowley has joined.
Never played a game for the club in the league (he was on the bench for the week Birraz was injured) but certainly leaves our goal keeping stocks a little thin if the above expected departure occur.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.
We can sign any kid to do same job
Anyway the young kid playing first grade in the NPL is only 16-17
I rate him very much.
I think some of our off-contract players the Jets want to extend should think carefully about the fact under Martin we would become a very secure and potentially one of the wealthiest clubs in the A League before they go jumping ship... ;)
Dont we still have that young bloke Bon Scott??
