Was considering if I have a kick this year, Any Zone Leagues sides looking for a GK?
DRUFC ZL3 have regrettably lost their first grade keeper dur to weekend work commitments. I suppose running a successful drinking hole can do that. We have appreciated his efforts in the 2 years with us.
We are now looking frantically to fill his spot. Anyone GK who is considering a run and not yet committed PM me. We have a solid squad this year and our best improvement have been added depth this year.
Due to pitch & player availability, Charlestown ZL1 are looking for 2 grades to play (and host) either tomorrow night or Saturday. Was aiming to get our reserves & 3rds a game in lieu of FFA Cup, but will consider anytime available to host us.

Has anyone seen the Letter to the Editor in yesterday’s Herald regarding Council costs associated with football grounds?
Not sure what club it is about - but any other clubs struggling under this burden?
Every year, football is tainted as an expensive (when actually tame compared to dancing, musical instruments etc), and finally a major cost component is exposed!
Yes, I'm at a Newcastle club and Newcastle council charge a shit load to clubs
$20,000 seems about right for a decent sized club that will be using 2-3 fields for training during the week and at least one field on a Saturday.
The club should do what we do and when they give us the bill question every aspect and only pay for the times we use. The council will try and charge for every hour one time they were charging us to use it up to 9pm on Sundays.
Newcastle Council also do f uc k all in fixing issues, upgrading the grounds and barely maintain them.
Below is the letter for those interested
Quote:
I RECEIVED fees for my son to play premier soccer with a Newcastle club. They are great people and wonderful role models as volunteers. I was shocked at the fees and when I questioned the club, they promptly and very willingly provided me with a breakdown. Once they pay NNSW Football and the FFA plus relevant insurances and gear costs, I noticed a levy.
A levy that allows this club to pay some $20,000 in council fees to host training and games and to turn on lights. Why are sporting groups held to ransom by council and associated sporting bodies?
Newcastle City Council does nothing for these clubs but simply apply red tape whilst putting out their hand for fees that community/not-for-profit groups should not have to pay.
This is a big club, and they train and play six or seven days a week. Are they being hampered by their size or does every club cop such a hefty fee? Surely not fair. Maybe the council can explain what clubs get in return for $20,000. All I see is volunteers doing everything while council mows once a week on a tractor. These are grounds for community use.
