Apparently Green Day are doing a 2.5hour set and no sideshows
Soundwave is good for me!
I'd even go and see Green Day if they promise to play Dookie from Start to finish as they have been doing the last few shows.
Gwar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bowling For Soup, Nancy Vandal, Alice in Chains, STP (even with that wanker from that other band I don't like), Korn, Rob Zombie, Rocket from the Crypt
CLUTCH!!!!!!!
Rumour NIN and Maiden to play.
Throw in a few more solid Punk in the next announcement and I'll be a very happy man!
Might be up q-mo's alley...

I am a metal fan through and through, but I got dragged to Green Day when they were here on the 21st Century Breakdown tour. ****ing awesome live band. I became a fan after that show after avoiding them since dookie which I hated when it came out.
But Megadeth and GWAR, that alone is worth the price of admission. Gwar should have some new stuff to play by then as well.
Add to that, Living Colour and its a sweet line up. I am hanging for some side shows though. Megadeth/Gwar together or Living Colour with anyone any my credit card will hurt.
Anyone go to Defqon1?
Apparently the pills were shit.
Harvest fest cancelled due to poor ticket sales. :(
Hopefully Massive Attack do a headline tour.
Clutch is going to be epic. Also bowling for soup is going to be a trip down memory lane. Best thing is my mrs bought my ticket and is shouting the seeking down in Melbourne for my day of birth celebrations. WINNING!!!!

Just picked up the new Gwar album, Battle Maximus.

This has been doing the rounds on Facey of late..
Not a bad cover for a bunch of school kids.. The drummer does a decent job of Danny Carey's lunacy around the 4:30 mark..

Bit different for you lot, seem to only like old metal around here.
For those that don't mind checking other stuff out I present Nicholas Jaar's essential mix.
Used to listen to EM's a fair bit a few years ago and recently decided to check out some, this one was EM of 2012.
Chilled out mix with plenty of touches of orchestral, piano, some jazz stuff.
Opens with a great Twin Peaks gem.

It's going to be fighting Trentemoller for my new favourite chilled out mix.
A mate sent this link to me today..
Some awesome crazy-legs going on with some of these dodgey Russians.. I can see SD smashing these out at the next Tenzo metal night..

Anyone ignoring the football and going to see Devy on Friday instead?
Ahhh man.. I would like to get there, but my optimism for the Jets season hasn't been shattered just yet, so I'll be watching that... (I am sure that the usual soul-crushing disappointment will be quick to settle in after a few games with GVE still there)
Oh yeah, I saw NIN with Queens Of The Stone Age has finally been announced, with Newcastle getting a show on March 8!

Wish I had gone to Devy instead of watching that drivel.
Anyone else heading down to The Metro on Sat night for Between The Buried And Me and The Contortionist ??
Aaaaaaaamazing live bands..

I cannot stop listening to this, breathtaking.
So Soundwave second release line up Pennywise, Less than Jake, Stiff Little fingers and THE PORKERS!!!!!!!!, going to be a great day! I hope there's not too much crossover for these bands though. Likely they'll all be in the same area though.
New Jake bug comes out this weekend, and Just ordered the new Less than Jake album! See the Light. Haven't heard anything bad about it yet.
anyone else going to the QOTSA/NIN show here next year?

Saturday 8th February Soapbox Events presents Bass Boutique "Block Party" with One of the true legends DJ Shadow on his "All Basses Covered" tour
Supported by Dexter , 4 X Australian DMC champion and former DJ behind The Avalanches
Katalyst , Kilter , A-Tonez , Paces + many more & hosted by Hau from Koolism
This is a day event at Ivy in their amazing court yard with huge production & one of the most incredible line ups assembled.
Devo I missed out on tickets to see Plump DJs and more importantly Dom & Roland on the same night...
Yep! Have never really gotten into NIN (not that I dislike them, just never given them a good run) but love Qotsa.
Anyone else vote in the hottest 100? My listening year has been pretty dreadful compared to normal - haven't been to any gigs & have listened to more mainstream or classical stuff for some reason. But I voted:

***
Chrome Sparks - Marijuana (Ace song, name detracts from it)
Arcade Fire - Reflektor
Flume & Chet Faker - Drop The Game
Tycho - Awake (All Tycho's sh!t sounds amazing [and similar] - A Walk [from 2011?] is the best so far imo)
Daft Punk - Get Lucky (If only because it led to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs6r6Ud0GGU Kissinger )
Vance Joy - Riptide
Disclosure - F For You (Cannot believe they produced the 'Fire Starts to Burn' abomination)
Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy
Dustin Tebbut - Where I Find You
Martin Garrix - Animals (What a club song!)
Hope Get Lucky goes #1. Also hope this guy updates his website:

Also liked (from the JJJ list):
Lorde - Royals
Bonobo - Cirrus (First found this due to the awesomeness of the film clip)
Lemaitre - Continuum (Cut to Black sh!ts all over it)
Tkay Maidza - Brontosaurus (King St!!)
MO - Never Wanna Know (Waste of Time sh!ts all over it)
James Blake - Retrograde (Overgrown was a step backwards for James Blake, mostly everything sounded like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy_oX6SURRE)
JAY Z {Ft. Frank Ocean} - Oceans (Half the song is great [the first bloke that sings], the other half is terrabad)

it's still at ivy though
best thing i've ever seen anyone do at a gig bar that dude having a pull at field day ( :rof: ) was dom punch a dude fair in the face for rewinding a tune without his permission
shadow is boring as, everytime i've seen him he has been gash
i also once had a bender with the plump DJs (y)
Cannot stand Get Lucky and it will most likely get no 1.
Do not understand all the hype behind it to be honest, does not stand out as anything special to me.
Bet Covered in Chrome does pretty well also, far out JJJ have been spamming it.
Personally I hope this gets no 1.
