burns took forever to hit form. His last few games were his best. His first few were rubbish

probably because he came in late, unfit and with almost zero game time. with a full pre-season there would be no reason to think he wouldn't replicate his later performances earlier on.
burns ---- griff -----carney

looks pretty appealing to me. could swap griff/taggz around pretty easily.
If burns comes permanently I doubt it will be at the expense of a foreign no10 and striker. In a good position to have a lot of competition for places amongst decent quality and experienced players, this even factoring in hoole, Goodwin and virgili who now have some experience. Personally not really worried about upfront or midfield. It's all about the left side of back four, the left stopper and left back. Is it worth playing either carney or Goodwin there or should we be looking for someone.

Last few paragraphs all but confirm Villa to Heart.
The wheels fell off last season when Burns left, at his peak he and Taggart were carrying the Jets. This without Joel or Carney as attacking options. Burns wouldn't come cheaply and would most certainly be at the expense of a No 10 or striker for the sort of coin he would command. Better the Burns we know than a another Jesper Hakkanson.
The one game Burns had at No 10 he had Goodwin and Virgilli as wide options. In other words he had nothing to work with. Replace that with Griffiths and Carney and see how effective he can be at 10.
Had heard there was J-league side after him
Burns is not a No. 10
But he will give us the attacking options we need when combined with Carney, Griffo, and others.
Flores and Taggart up Front
Griff Right
Burns Left
Carney Left Back
Would just need a CB and a CM then.
All this assuming Taggart will be here.
Carney isnt a LB's arseh*le. Play Goodwun there and play Carney further forward.
Don't know wether Goodwin has been poorly advised but have never understood why he hasn't solely focussed on being a LB. He is never going to cut it professionally as a LM and only ever seems to play well when up against inexperienced RB's. Should concentrate 100% on LB and see where that takes him.

If we had this would we really need one of these magical "number 10s" everyone in Australian football thinks you need?
Depends on who's behind them. We need someone to link the defence to the attack.
Sth American striker coming our way?

Apparently Victory have signed Valeri
Milton Rodriguez/Jorge Drovandi/Jardel etc.
Adelaide set to sign Dylan McGowan and have Cristian Esposito on trial.
Denni Rocha Dos Santos.
Denni and Zura.
Make it happen Tinks.
Confirmed - David Villa on 10 game stint. Awwwwwww yeah.
Jeebus, Bresc and Villa :fap:
haha RIP a-league
Surely today we'll have a signing announced. At the start of the week Stubbs said a couple were a few days away. So aching for a signing

This article says we're signing Adrian Madaschi.
Also says Yossi Benayoun is getting shopped around to A-League clubs get on it Tinks.
Still no news on who this South American is.
Madaschi is a great signing, probably the best of the names thrown around so far so lets hope thats true!
Some other big names in that article, interesting to see what happens there. You would think with all the attention on Melbourne City, Sydney FC will be wanting to make a huge signing to get attention back on them.
Very keen on Madaschi at the back for us. We would have 3 solid centre backs and some cover for both fullback positions.
I will be 'peeing my pants' excited if Christian Rodriguez ended up in Newcastle. He seems to fit the bill of who Stubbs described as well. (http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/artic...erican-striker)

Herald reporting the South American is believed to be Colombian and we're in talks with Boogard.
We'd look a lot more solid than recent years with kew, regs, madaschi and boogard.
Columbia produces shite loads of strikers.
If we sign Madaschi, would you prefer he play Centre or Left Back?
Madashci would most definitely be a CB. I would think the Boogaard is only backup.
Looking at 2 Attacking Midfielders too
