Does Lloris have hands?
Spuds thought they were title contenders but got comfortably beat up by Liverpool with CMs in the backline and on a terrible run of form (relative to normal form for them?
Thanks boys. I enjoyed that immensely.
Mo's 2nd goal...and the leadup to it all. :fap:
Reminded me a lot of the game v City @ Anfield last season and Mo's goal then but sub Shaq for Robbo.
Then, that was Trent to Robbo, Robbo sees Mo and one bounce in front of him he heads it in.

2 defenders incoming, which is good. Matip now confirmed as out for the rest of the season, which is shit.
Fingers crossed Gomez and VVD will see some time this season
The newest news I’ve seen is that VVD was indeed a ACL recon, which I don’t recall them ever confirming at the time. They’ve been very very vague. But thats like a 9 month recovery for the elite. And idk if we’d risk rushing him back for the sake of a few games.
Also reports that Gomez did his patellar tendon. So I dare say his injury is worse than VVDs. Major weight bearing tendon. I’m concerned there would even be some everlasting issues with his injury.
I’d be surprised if we see either of them for any meaningful contribution.
Wow. Just saw Furn’s comment that Matip out.
CB depth was questioned at the beginning of the season. But I don’t think anybody thought we’d suffer season ending injuries to our top 3 CBs.
I imagine we will see Fabinho stick to CB and get a new partner every second week.
Reports I’ve seen don’t sell Davies or Kabak as saviours at the back. But surely a specialist is better than playing Henderson and Fabinho there every game.
Alison has lost his head, Soo many blunders past few weeks
Yehhh, we’ve lost our way a lot.
Think he’s overthinking things, trying to make up for his errors of past and making things worse.
Glad we had a good run and now back to usual vying for top 4.
Really think Henderson missing from midfield is one of our biggest issues. The rest of our team is virtually the same, but that CB position is killing us. VVD good at picking outlet balls and also offensively dangerous on set pieces.
Curious what we do with Firmino, Mane and Salah in the summer. Other attacking players may start to see us as an option now. Jota has showed that you can come in and get game time and succeed and push for a start.
City are deadset walking this. Augero out, Jesus not stepping up, and playing false 9s every game. The depth they have is incredible.
Maybe how hard Klopp works his teams and how demanding he is is starting to wear thin
How is the rest of the team virtually the same....missing Centre half pair, 2 of the starting midfielders and the bench looks no better tan my u16s...seriously I know it’s excuse making and all but the team is so out of balance it’s crazy....not to mention 2 of the front 3 out of form and Trent not getting the usual protection from inside when he goes forward....and Allison making mistakes.
We aren’t playing well and the squad seems like their heads are gone.
Will be interesting to see which domino falls first.
Salah seems the obvious choice to go.
I'd be shocked if they let Mane go, but in fairness it's not as if they have a good record letting their best forwards leave.
They do need a plan b though when games are bogged down.
A proper #10 would be good for them. Head off to Spain and get one on the cheap.
Pep has the advantage of being able to throw money at all this problems
but yeah, I think we all knew this was going to happen with Klopp and this team - as happened at Dortmund
"these unprecendented times" has had an impact obviously, as it has on every team - but long term injuries and loss of form of key players has all happened at once with Liverpool
we lasted 30 years, we'll all be supporting them in 30 more (unless we die obviously)
Didn't even realise Minamino was loaned to Southampton. Very cool finish there V Chelsea.
Henderson out now with a groin.
Bloody hell. At the moment that is VVD, Gomez, Matip, Fabinho and now Henderson. Kabak and Davies must be shitting themselves. Curious if Davies inclusion on the bench signals the end for philips and Williams blooding. Or if they’ll split CL and EPL
We just look impotent at the moment. We look good on the ball, with thiago, wijnaldum and even Jones doesn’t look out of place. Idk if there’s lack of movement from Mane, Salah and Firmino or what, but our attack seems to struggle.
Saw a stat, if Henderson stayed on until halftime, him and Kabak would have matched the longest continuous CB partnership this season.
Philips and Henderson remain the record holders with 2.5 games.
Mount is going to the very top, VAR still sucks and Surely Klopp's job is very much under threat
Lmao. As if they are going to sack Klopp right now? I love some good ribbing after a loss, but this is just nonsensical...
And that's coming from me.
Liverpool are still close to UCL with 1/2 their first team squad available. If they end up getting any of their first choice CBs back soon they are guaranteed to jump back into the top 4. Chelsea need to make sure they are ahead of a few teams when that inevitably happens otherwise Tuchel is going to be hamstrung with lowly Europa League ties when he tries to convince the next £200 million worth of flops to come over from Germany.
So does Klopp stay on as an assistant to Gerrard or does Stevie bring his own staff in someone tell me how this works?
Klopp isnt going anywhere lol
Starting to get a few players back from injury, once we can start playing first choice players in their preferred positions rather than covering at CB then things will be a lot rosier. It is what it is.
We've waited 30 years for a bloody title, I can handle finishing outside of the race this season considering everything thats gone on. I think most sensible supporters understand things haven't gone our way, the exact same thing happened to City last season when they lost most of their decent defenders, they were a long way off.
Yeh,
Klopp has earned his contract extension and the right to go out on his terms. Imo, he’s the type of manage that if he felt he lost the dressing room or felt burnt out like some media suggests, he’d walk away.
He took a few months away from the game when his stocks were at their highest to rejuvenate himself.
In terms of results, I dare say he would’ve been in discussions to bring in some coverage at the back and supplement the squad. Due to the global situation, I think they all agreed it wouldn’t be worth it financially atm as players are definitely over priced given the financial situation of most clubs.
I think what happens in the next 12 months will determine his future. If we get VVD and Gomez back, we get Henderson and Fabinho back to midfield.
Jota is back. I think we need another creative player. Somebody that can just conjure up something when we need it.
Like Salah last season, coutinho, Suarez. They just make something from nothing.
Our front three have been disappointing relative to previous years and perhaps it’s time to start thinking of a plan b.
Our lack of a plan b, is what concerns me most sometimes. Teams have us figured out. We are going to play 4-3-3. If they sit back and absorb, we probably won’t score atm, then they counter or get a set piece.
Thank **** for Jota, eh?
At least one of them knows where the onion bag is with some consistency.
Could’ve done with those 3 points.
For what it’s worth.
Can't help feeling now that a certain distraction had a part to play in it.
Nat Phillips not being available didn't help either. I like how he commands corners.
We'll never know how that game would have panned out with him in the backline.
For all local fans, the OLFC Newcastle branch is having a function at Queens Wharf Hotel this Saturday, 9:30pm for the Newcastle game.
It's to celebrate the official status of the local supporters club becoming affiliated with the mothership.
There was a rumour CJ has been invited to attend.
I'm sure the ESL fiasco will dominate conversations on the night.
Interesting couple of weeks ahead.
Leicester - 66, Chelsea and Spurs, GD 21
Chelsea - 64, Leicester and villa GD 22
Liverpool - 60, WBA, Burnley and Palace. GD20
Destiny in our hands it seems. Win 3/3 we go to 69 and at least a GD of 23
Worst case scenario, Chelsea beats Leicester 1-0 and villa - 70 points. GD irrelevant.
Leicester lose to Chelsea, beat spurs. 69 points. Loss to Chelsea 1-0 brings GD to 20 and need to beat spurs 3-0.
Of course we need to win our 3 games. If we can’t do that, we dont deserve it anyway.
Chelsea have ****ed it royally losing to that garbage Arsenal team. Classic us
That was ****ing unbelievable!
Fat Sam didn't see thst coming.
Neither did Sam Johnstone :rof:
Alisson Becker with perhaps the moment of the season.
:brrr:
Still in our hands.
Wow. Getting some luck.
Great moment.
Must be a keepers dream.
Thought the disallowed goal for WBA was a bit rough until I saw the end camera which basically shows him unable to see the ball/header.
We will take it, but it’s not filling me with much confidence haha.
Burnley and palace with nothing to play for.
I just watched again and Phillips nearly takes it off Ali's head.
Nice to ride a wave of emotion for a few days but it will be feet on the ground come Thursday morning.
Ka-fey beckons...
Playing frantically atm.
Thiago gives the ball away and launches himself everywhere to win it back.
Salah gives it away on own 18, works back and makes a last ditch tackle on the 6yard.
Where’s this been?
Burnley getting the best of the bounce atm. So many 30-70 tackles are leaving the ball hitting a heel or something to their favour.
positive but still can't celebrate until three points against Palace
OLSC Newcastle watching at Wests New Lambton for this one.
Very happy with that result from this season.
Considering how bad we were playing and how understrength we have been for long periods of this season, I think that’s a great outcome.
Nice touch that Gini got to say goodbye. Has served us well
Would’ve made UCL final very very interesting if Leicester won and Chelsea lost.
