Unfortunately they're on the same side of the draw, albeit they'll meet in the semi's if they both get that far.

    Are Italy still in it?

I was listening to a podcast on the way to get some grub one night, where a bloke made a great case for them winning it. Parked the car, ducked into the pub to put a tenner on them, then listened to the rest of the pod where the bloke went on to say why they won't win.

    Yes

Tough side of the draw though in a group with Spain, Germany, England and France

it was good seeing Ireland play hard but positive football against Italy's reserve team's half-arsed catenaccio

I reckon Italy will make the semis though - hell the way they play tournament football I can actually see them doing just enough to win it and no more

so, which games in the round of sixteen is everyone looking forward to?

personally it's the England v Iceland and France v Ireland games

My opinion... not a chance. Great defence but nearly as bad as the jets when it comes to any kind of creativity. They peaked against Belgium and got a great result, they will struggle to break down the big guns on their side of the draw. But said big guns will struggle to break them down too.

I think you've made a good value bet (please tell me you got them at the 19/1).
Because if they get past Spain they can beat any other team no probs.
So you've made a bet getting good odds in a 2 horse race.

    ROI v Wales looks tasty.
    Hungary should have a dig.
France v Ireland though, geez if the Paddys get up I can't imagine how large Roy Keane is going to go.

Nah I will right the Italians off

Getting past Spain Germany France in 3 games just to get to the final is a bridge too far

I wouldn't think Spain could do it either with Italy Germany and France

Just too many huge matches in a row
Teams who win titles like this tend to win 1-2 games against the elite tops.Ypu don't see a team put paid to 3-4 sides of World class level.

To me it is Germany or Frances title

Though I interested to see a Germany v Spain QF

Spain have had the wood on Germany the last 6-8 years

Have the Germans got over that is interesting to see

England must be kicking themselves for getting into that side of the draw - the other side will have much more interest. Who gets to the final could come from the Cro/Portugal winner, Hungary or Wales.

Its funny, its the "easier" side of the draw when it comes to big names, but the draw works out that way because those teams beat the bigger teams.
Any of Swiss, Poland, Portugal, Croatia (my pick still), Wales, Hungry and obviously Belgium can all make the final and in my opinion win it.
Its surely has to be the most open major competition in a very long time.

Funny that. You say Spain has had the wood on Germany.
Italy has had the wood on Germany. I think Germany has never beaten Italy in a competition match. (they have in friendlies)
Spain just got past Italy in the last Euro competition when Italy had a couple of their best players out.
For Italy it hinges on the Spain match. If they beat Spain the only team that I can see beating them is Croatia.
