The blame for this debacle has to be laid at Stubbins feet. 2 hard fought games leading up to this fixture was always going to leave the team tired. Only Stubbins sees how they perform at training and that should have been the guide as to shuffling the starting side to freshen them up or sticking with the same.
Conceding 28 goals this year is the problem, 7 more than anyone else. Until the defence can be sorted we are wasting our time.
I would revert back to the 3-5-2 as this was the best we have defended all season. But we need more from our strikers and therefore I would bench Joel for Jerinimo or Cooper. One of our strikers has to be constantly harassing the defence and putting pressure on the ball.
All the criticism of Welsh is completely unwarranted.
It's the kids first season as a professional and first run of games in the starting side. You have to expect a bad game and it's Stubbins's job to see that coming and rest him. Not throw Welsh to the wolves and play 3 back to back games in 7 days.
