    Today's results at the Athfield:
    1st: 6-1 Cooks Hill
    23's: 4-1 Cooks Hill
    19's: 2-0 Cooks Hill
    17's: 4-1 Cooks Hill

Great display by the Cookers today. Toronto had an off day but still some class shown to get six goals. Good to see wins across all four grades too.

I played today across the road and only made it in time for 1sts but I was told the 17's keeper played for the 1st grade. He had a great game between the sticks too. And yes the Cookers do have a bright future in New-FM, as do the other promoted sides. All doing reasonably well.

Game delayed in the second half for nearly an hour as a Lakes player needed an ambo. Assuming leg break it was on the far side of the field and all info I got was speculation

I need to start this post by admitting I play lower grade for CHUFC and it was the first NEWFM game I've watched this year and the boys were good, but Toronto were embarrassing. It was honestly hard to watch, no desire, discipline or ability. I think it's going to be a long season out that way.

Good to see more players coming across to the main game (I play for AA/H). I've been to all home games so far and it's a pretty entertaining comp. Completely agree though, Toronto looked awful. They were all over the place for the majority of the game. Sad to see what was a big club a few years back struggling but they'll pull through. Maybe not this season though.

I think the two previous posters should be more carefully with some of your opinions. Just remember you play lower grades such as all age and zone league for your favorite club.

I'm trying not to be too biased. I follow the whole comp plus I go to a fair few NPL matches as well. Just a fan of local football. I think the New-FM comp is a great pathway. It's good to see teams like Cooks Hill, Wallsend and Kahibah get the chance this year as well.

Yes I am happy to see a number of promoted clubs to this div. So far and shoving it down the gob of other zl clubs who think this comp is bridesmaid of other hopefulls.

    1st grades results
    Thornton 1 v Kahibah 3
    Cessnock 0 v W/Wallsend 2

All grades scores on NNSWF site already from those 2 home clubs. N1

A bit of lip between the benches at Thornton v Kahibah the Chinese whispers say?
(or Chinese whiskers as my 6yo says)

Edit:- Singleton 2 v Wallsend 3 (again, from NNSWF site)

First grade ladder as of round 7:

    1 Valentine FC 17
2 Lake Macquarie City FC 13
    3 West Wallsend SFC 13
    4 Wallsend FC 12
5 Cooks Hill United FC 8
    6 Kahibah FC 8
7 Belmont Swansea United SC 7
    8 Cessnock City FC 7
    9 Singleton SC 3
    10 Thornton Redbacks FC 3
    11 Toronto Awaba FC 3

Still early on, but all 3 promoted clubs doing well. Especially Kahibah after coming towards the bottom of ZPL last year. Gumps has them well drilled.
With Phoenix still to have the bye they are really only 1 point in front of Lakes, so still an open race for promotion.
