Russia 2018 World Cup - AFC Qualifiers

article in the SMH this morning saying there will be qualifiers in Newy, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra this time around. can't find it online.

    SWEET!

our part kicks off in june.

First round: The lowest ranked teams will play home-and-away over two legs to reduce the total number of teams to 40.
Second round: The 40 teams will be divided into eight groups of five to play home-and-away round robin matches, where the eight group winners and the four best group runners-up will advance to the third round of FIFA World Cup qualification as well as qualify for the AFC Asian Cup finals.
Third round: The 12 teams (an increase from 10 for 2014) will be divided into two groups of six to play home-and-away round-robin matches. Dependent on the number of qualifiers from the AFC, the top two teams of each group will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and the two third placed teams will advance to the fourth round.
Fourth round (play-off for 5th place): Dependent on the number of qualifiers from the AFC, the two third-placed teams in each group from the third round will play against each other home-and-away over two legs to determine which team will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
The next best 24 teams eliminated from World Cup qualification in the second round will be divided into six groups of four and compete for the remaining slots of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup (the third round of 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification will be separate from the third round of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification).

Order the temp seating NOW - ffs....though pretty sure we'll get second round games rather than the more appealing third round matches.

The Socceroos will start their campaign for qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Perth after Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the West Australian Government today announced Australia's first home qualifier will be played at nib Stadium.

The date and opponent will be confirmed in early April when the draw for the First Round of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying is conducted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

It is expected the first home qualifier will take place in either June or September 2015.

The First Round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers comprises eight groups of five AFC nations, which will see all teams play home and away in a round robin format, meaning the Socceroos will play four matches in Australia.

The winners of all eight groups and the four best runners up will then progress to the final stage of qualifying, which will see the 12 nations drawn into two groups of six with another round of home and away matches signifying a further five World Cup Qualifiers on Australian soil.

Announcements on the location of the remaining matches will be made at a later
So with 9 WCQ for Russia Newy have to be a show of getting one if the Socceroos being shared around the country is true??

Having a think about shit with 9 home WCQ am seriously thinking about doing the lot. Considering they are spread out over 2 years should not be the biggest short term drain on finances. Anyone else interested in getting out there and travelling to see us qualify for Russia ???

Would love to go to Iran for a game. Their fans were so happy, cheery and just in general nice during the Asian Cup. But it looks like there are huge warnings about not travelling there.

Was thinking more Socceroos games in Australia not travelling overseas although when the draw comes out might organise a holiday if it pans out

Its normal practice in countries like Iran in all walks of life. Women are seen as inferior to men

    Feminists or leftist apologists??

Was hammered by a whole heap of those trendy hipster lefty clowns at Flinders St Station at the weekend.

The ****s were carrying on about wanting to stopping racism in Melburn

When pestered by one of the try hard do gooders I asked them exactly how they actually plan on controlling the thoughts and opinions of the entire population to fit into their little narrow view on the world

When he struggled to answer this I then suggested that they may as well start wearing swastikas and start worshipping the Nazis as those guys were at least half way there to achieving what these lefty hipster clowns wanted

    Bloke was not impressed
