3 years ago, I would have taken him over most other wingers in the league purely from a prospect perspective. Then he broke his foot or whatever it was and he has been absolutely shite ever since.

Anyone else think Boogaard is getting lined up as the skipper for next year? He's the only one I see doing media from the playing group.

Who else has leadership qualities? I remember thinking years ago that Kanta would one day step up to be a real leader but that's never really happened. The rest are all blow ins, young or visa players. The only other senior player is Carney and he doesn't really strike me as a leader. Boogaard would be ideal as captain, especially if he plans on playing the rest of his career in his hometown. Certainly a better pick than Mullen.

Wasn't questioning it, just making an observation. I agree he is the likely pick from the playing group at the moment.

This isn't an attempt at a windup or I-told-you-so but who were the Boogard haters on this forum? I know whenever I've brought him up in the past there's been some pretty negative responses about him.

If you are/were a hater, how would you feel about him being given the captaincy?
    OK

Just imagine if we had signed him straight from his Breakers then Weston days? He could be the life long club hero we all worship (maybe as Griffs #1 disciple) instead of the guy some people remember scoring his first ever goal against us while playing for the scum.

Looks like our FFA cup line-up will look something like this

    Birraz
    Cowburn Boogaard Mullen Carney
    Kanta
    Barresi Cooper
    Alivodic Pavicevic Ki-Je

Not a horrible line-up in the swing of things but seeing as Kanta is our only defensive midfielder I strongly recommend that we make that top priority in our recruitment.

Kanta has already been ruled out of the ffa cup. Still recovering from groin surgery. Ki-ji will be LB, carney LW

Didn't think we had signed Cowburn? Or can you play trialists in the Cup?

Now the new gaffa is back in town we should expect some signings next week.
Herald today murphy saying we should have enough cap space to present a decent contract to maclaren. Talks have started apparently.

Also wouldn't be surprised if we pick up cam Watson from Adelaide. Decent cm IMO
