The only question left is how did weston get it so wrong in sacking Piggot? Couldn't of been disliked by the players that much....

All the best to carl, hes said no to big money spending clubs for years and years. Needs to be a royal commission into how it got to this stage.
Clearly the protests of one or more senior players led the club to sack piggo.

Four Weston players now playing under him at Maitland, it was a mistake letting him go.

I would imagine the Thornton Brothers being quite good mates with the Thompson Brothers had something to do with the switch, hence why they were close to joining last year.

Props to Reece Thompson, seems to of gotten a couple of players there now because they're mates. Good to see money doesnt make the world go round.
Would of preferred if he had different friends though

Curious about opinions....... with most NPL and some NewFM clubs now commencing serious training and planning trials etc (not forgetting NewFm have their first competitive game on Feb 20th with FFA Cup) at what stage should clubs be allowed to start registering players?

By that I mean, when should clubs feel confident they can lock their sides in and not lose player/s due to late approaches from other clubs? Should FFA allow registrations earlier than January? Would it make much difference?

And it isnt just 1st Grade , I'm considering the Youth Grades also being impacted by possible player merri-go-rounds.

If you think registering a player is going to lock him in your dreaming, unless your on a professional contract you can come and go as you please

Surely this is said tongue in cheek GoWeston. Money is what talks and if you think players like Matt Thomson,Ryan Clarke and Carl Thornton have gone to Maitland because they're mates with Reece you are having a laugh. Was talking to Carl last weekend and Maitland had made him an offer too good to refuse

Agreed ForeverRed. With the money players are asking for nowadays, northern should bring back contracts so once a player signs with a club he cannot leave until his contract ends unless the club is happy to release him

This would be paradise, stop club hopping by players only interested in themselves even if it means breaking the club they pull the shirt on for.

If you think a player like carl hasn't had all sorts of money thrown at him before you're dreaming. Friendship is the binding power

Heard this is exactly what happened this weekend. Alex Read, who has already signed with Maitland, has decided to not honour his agreement and has now signed with Adamstown.

I've heard promised the world (overseas trials, A League trials etc). Yeh right!! More like Nick Bale has left so Read poached to fill the void. Maybe they could have "innocently" brought Guy Bates back.

Time NNSW stepped in and changed the rules, disloyal players are making this competition a laughing stock

Not sure how you see this disloyal, players circumstances change, family, work etc etc, after all it is only an amateur competition
