I doubt we will see anything close to that rivalry we had with Uruguay again.
Unless we start diving and falling after being blown on with some Asian teams to stoop to their level.

Those games V Uruguay over those 4-5 years were some of the most intense games I can remember.
It’s crazy pressure that 4 years of training, playing and competing comes down to one game, especially after the first leg results.
Still get goosebumps every time. (Thankfully we didn’t need VAR to check all the pens)

If we had VAR in 1997 we would have qualified for France.

Everything that happened after that would not have........

    Think on that a while.

Just watched the Fox/Kayo doco thing.
    Not bad viewing.
Some interesting little things I’d forgotten or didn’t know.
    - morales and popovic had eachother by the throat pre game
    - we booked all the business class flights back to Australia.
    - we were about to sub off schwarzer before the penalties

sixteen years ago - that video still brings it all back like it was yesterday

I really don't think any football experience in my life will ever come close to that - and that's probably a good thing, to not have to endure 32 years of hurt to get to that moment

Note Griff at the mike with Tony Vidmar so excited to be in his presence he is dry humping him. Ahmed Elrich looks on in awe.

Even Ljubo looks like one of the crowd wanting to be with Griff.
