not even blatter is that Machiavellian that he can persuade the US government to arrest a few opponents. I doubt they're opponents anyway.

    Yep great Sepps gone.

Anyone thinking we are gonna see great change is deluding themselves.

The set up is the issue.

One vote per country means FIFA only need to spread the love to the poorer nations with some handouts to buy enough votes to keep elected.

Basically they are a law unto themselves

Quite right. But also my point was that he worked pretty hard to get Blatter out.

blatter and havelange, for all their faults recognised that FIFA is 1 country = 1 vote and exploited it to the hilt. anyone who wants to succeed in the presidential role will have to provide the juicy mangos to the peasant nations of CONCACAF, the AFC and the CAF if they want to survive. UEFA is irrelevant as a bloc.

I find it kind of weird that Oceania gets more of a say than South America when it comes to FIFA voting.
What's legit messed up though is that Africa has 5 times the amount of votes that South America gets under that system.

Not sure how a more reasonable system would work while still being equitable for the smaller countries, but it seems to me like the current system just breeds corruption and cronyism.

Aside from that, should be interesting to see how things go under a new Pres. There are lots of issues that are floating around in football right now which could ultimately have a big impact on how the game is played. Think of all the changes that occurred under Blatter's regime:

    - Golden goal abolished
    - Video replay technology strongly resisted but goal line technology starting to become (very reluctantly) more widespread
    - World Cups held in unconventional places
    - Silly string for free kicks etc.

Get a load of this. Schweinsteiger (the pig climber lol) is the quintessential Deutsche!

    http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/artic...doppelganger-1

“Many people in Germany are called Bastian,” DiD represenative Patrick Chan said.

“The figure is based on a typical German. We believe that all Germans look like that.”
Fmd...if reversed and anyone mocked up an Asian doll and made the comment "We believe that all Asians look like that."
you'd have your guts for garters.
