I propose we offer the member $200/week and he can make up the difference writing for the local rag.
    It's still $2 a beer

Your $30 bucks covers accommodation and food.

Drinking money is not there if you get into a shout though

Worst thing we can do is go into this game over-confident and complacent just because up to four players could be out. We need to just worry about our own game and go into thinking that the Mariners are going to put up one hell of a fight for 90 minutes. We need to be committed, aggressive and ruthless and treat this like a real derby.
This is an example of the mentality the players need to carry into the game from the words of Tim Cahill about the Everton/Liverpool Derby.....
"Throughout my time with Everton, I learned that the derby is almost always won with that very first tackle. Who's going to put in the first heavy-hitting challenge? Who's going to kick someone into the air to get our crowd fired up and passions soaring? And yes, put some fear into the heart of the Reds.
I saw Gerrard do it to us all the time. Even before I played in a derby, I watched clips where he'd go out, right after the opening whistle and munch everyone he could get near wearing an Everton shirt.
When you're on the pitch, living in the heat of those moments, you don't realise how intense it looks. You go flying into challenges, fearless-borderline red-card stuff-but if you get your boot to the ball and not the other man's leg, it's clean, and the crowd will go wild for it."

    KEY FACTS:
    General
    • Newcastle have only won once in Gosford, back in Season 3. It was a 2-1 win with goals scored by James Holland and Joel Griffiths.
    • The Jets are winless in the last 12 derbies. However, the last 3 have been drawn results.
    • By game day, it will be 2969 days since the Jets last won in Gosford.
    • There has only been one penalty awarded in the derby at Gosford. That penalty was for the Mariners, taken by Troy Hearfield and saved by Ben Kennedy.
    • The match will occur 4 days after the 8 year anniversary of the Jet's Grand Final win over the Mariners.

    Players
    • Jason Hoffman is the only remaining player in the squad who made an appearance in the Jets only win in Gosford.
    • Morten Nordstrand became the 62nd player to score for the Jets.
    • Enver Alivodic has provided 2 assists in 2 weeks.
    • Alivodic is also the only Jets player to have appeared in every match this season. It will be his 30th consecutive appearance for the club.
    • Mark Birighitti is the only Jets keeper to have kept a clean sheet in Gosford.

    Newcastle Jets
    • The Jets are winless in their last 6 away matches.
    • Since the Jets won away in Gosford in Season 3, they have scored only 3 goals in 11 matches on the Coast.
    • Those 3 players are Song Jin-Hyung, Labinot Haliti and Joel Griffiths.
    • The Jets have the opportunity to go 4 games undefeated, the first time since November 2013.
    • In the month of February, the Jets have only lost one match in the last 2 years.

    Central Coast Mariners
    • The Mariners will be missing 7 (possibly 8) of the 13 players who appeared in the Round 6 clash at Hunter Stadium.
    • The Mariners have scored the first goal in the last 3 derbies at Gosford.

. Conversely the stage is also set for us to put the vile gypo scum to the sword. Something we never usually manage

you blokes are braver than i. this is classic backs to the wall, off the canvas stuff that the gypos seem to thrive on.

    that's what has me concerned.

The last time I thought we had a realistic chance of winning down there was for the return of Griff. Then Birighitti spilt one between his legs in the first minute and we were done.

How I see us taking the 3 points is firstly we need to control the match like we did for most of last week. Secondly taking advantage of the inexperience of the young players and the old legs of Josh Rose. Finally we need to actually shut a game down and not have the opposition dominating us in the final stages despite leading or being a man up.

I really want to see how Miller sends the team out. We need to take the ascendency and rattle them.

We have nothing to worry about, as long as we're 5-0 up at the 90th minute. I don't want any of this giving them a point or throwing away points at the death as we so often do.
