I worry some people here have rose coloured glasses about some of the teams just above us, I would say only the top three teams have superior quality, the other four may have a few stars that can make a difference but on balance are not better squads than us, only difference is they are playing more coherently more often even their donkey players, and that probably has more to do with what their coaching staffs are achieving with them and the belief they have instilled in them, something that our coaches seem unable to fulfil.

My greatest fear is we still won't draw higher calibre uncontracted players in the vein of Castro until they can see we're a team worth joining, and that is influenced by how we play and what direction the coaches are leading us. The Petratos situation was a farce, we get stuck with the Brodie Mooy version instead of the Aaron one we wanted, we're going backwards instead of forwards again, I fear the offseason will be worse than the transfer window as far as the Adelaide juniors and all-age players we're gonna herald as our big signings, and I don't see it changing till we get a Gombau in charge who knows what they are doing...

I'm not saying they are light years above us. But they certainly have a stronger squad in terms of depth along with the few stars you've mentioned. Until we decide to allocate serious funds to develop to this level we will forever keep fighting it out where we are.
Victory and Sydney are lightyears above us in terms of depth, consistency, star power and standards.
City far outweigh us in both depth and starpower.
I used Perth as an example as they have a relatively strong starting lineup but you look towards the guys not making the team each week or coming off the bench. Oxborrow, Marinkovic, Garcia Grant. Couple that with star power of Castro, Taggart and Keogh. Over the course of a season that will always win out. They are a bit light at the back and it shows.
Wanderers are a similar eg. Struggling obviously to find the net but you have a midfield of Dimas, Nichols, Martinez, Baccus, Pinatares, Melling. Far more depth in quality then us.
In the end I seriously believe the table is a pretty accurate reflection on the strength of each squad. I'm slightly surprised by Brisbane being so high but I still believe they have a stronger squad overall then us.

The players that start should be expected to play 90 mins so there is no need to make a sub for the sake of it.
