Interesting about the Pearl Jam thing. I don't know many people who were in that era who are 'meh' about them.

Plenty of people hate them and others will take out a knife and stab you at the first bad word about Eddie Vedder.

Never really heard anyone in the middle.
Pearl Jam are a poor man's "The Who" Eddie Vedder would even back me up on that.

    Oh c'mon Hawk.
I bet there's old photos of you rocking the flanno* and doc martens with your hair down to your arse.

You probably went through that despairing age where you went 6hours without a supermodel and you thought life was over.

    *prob a Gucci flanno.

Dont get me wrong I quite liked a few of their songs individually, Jeremy probably being the standout.
But when I tried listening to an entire album, it just didn't appeal to me as an overall experience.

I swear a lot of people still thought he 'was' Bond after he retired from acting so he was all like "yeah **** it ima move to Monaco and live this life".
    Bloke bossed it.

Also made me giggle when they were searching for a replacement for Daniel Craig in the Bond role and Idris Elba's name kept popping up.

People were losing their minds that it was such a departure from the stereotypical 'Bond' character (i.e. 'He black') but if you go compare Moore to Connery to Craig to those pussies in between and they were all very very different.

But no, can't have a black guy in there, it just wouldn't 'work'.

I don't believe you should change the setting of the original author. Bond was a suave aristocrat from the English system and that is how Fleming intended it. The actors have different personalities and that gives the role different spin. It has worked for 50 years and Bond was never for the PC brigade anyway with his carry ons.

FWIW I was hugely against Elba but not at all because of his skin colour. He just doesn't seem charismatic in any way to me. I watched Luther and I can't think of a less exciting Bond tbh.
    OK

You realise they said the same shit about Daniel Craig and he turned out alright.

Stringer Bell was a ****ing great character on a show full of really great characters.

I'm not saying he should be a 'lock' for the role but man o man did the people dismiss him quickly in a way that they didn't do to a lot of others.

So you're cool with those other actors being different, just not the black guy?

    Gotcha.

Lazenby and Dalton were brilliant as Bond, and Brosnan really only had one decent script to work with - I'd say Moore is probably the weakest link in the franchise. I liked him much better as Simon Templar - that role he owned. Moore was too old too play Bond - and it really showed in his later efforts with the franchise.

I'm starting to think this almost needs its own "Who was the best Bond" thread, complete with poll and Slobs option, (and lets face it, Slobs truly is the Bond of Mayfield)..

Yeah I'm no Bond expert but I always though Moore was camp as ****.

I thought the Dalton and Brosnan movies were lame.
I loved Casino Royale (the new one), but though the latest one was boring as all hell.

    Skyfall was freaking phenomenal

Re: Elba - if he proves me wrong, I'm all for it. I don't hold optimism though.

All these arguments are irrelevant though, because they'll get Chris Pratt to do it next.
    OK

Henry Cavill would make a great James Bond. Only issue is he might be too well known Superman role.

Oh yeah Skyfall was pretty dope.
Spectre was the boring one I was referring to.

See, someone like Pratt would probably do a good job. I'd be down with them doing something different, as they have done seemingly every time they changed Bonds.

You only have to look at the Nolan Batman films compared to the Snyder ones to see what happens when they try and do the same thing with completely different people.

Didn't they try to do that with him in the retro spy movie he made a couple years back?

Can't remember what it's called but I think Guy Ritchie had something to do with it.

Oh, get Vin Diesel to be Bond, then in the 2nd movie get the Rock to come in and steal all his shit.
Then just make The Rock be James Bond.

    Would watch many times.
