Sounds like they either couldn't get visas? Or don't have the money to fly over?

That relationship is already worth m/b/tr/zillions for CCM as Marc Warren left them for Sheff Utd. Nick Montgomery as a result of it, probably?

Well I guess you could say Sheffield Utd got to palm off an old captain who had run out of legs. Remember how they were going to be taking on all the talented Blades Juniors to hone their skills at the luxurious "Centre of Excellence"

I find all these partnerships to be all talk and no substance.

A month out someone needed to be making down payments on the logistics and I suspect it wasn't forthcoming.

Clearly don't know the Newcastle culture where we buy late.

And even then, $35 for GA and everything else from $40 for a pre-season friendly against a team I had never heard of (no disrespect) I think was askign far too much.

They would have been lucky to get 5k through the gates.

So Audax released a statement that they were advised by the promoter that the tour had been cancelled, and Ben O'Niell confirmed it on Twitter.

So it's either the Jets or the promoter who cancelled by the looks of it

I'd already booked my business-class flights to Newcastle and luxury suite at the Novotel. Devastated.

Nope....Visionmax was the promoter. Very small Australian based and we, the Jets, were the ones discussing friendlies when Lawrie was in Chile earlier this year.

But yeah no responsibility for getting involved in this. Surely happens to everyone.

What the **** was the promoter thinking??

Bringing this mob out here was never going to be a money spinning thing

Colo Colo would struggle to sell well in this country let alone a side that even football fans are scratching their heads and have to Google

Getting a side like that here is a loss making exercise
    Always will be

I agree, but what were we thinking getting involved.

I suspect that Lawrie never really looked that close to the business case but $35 tickets for an unknown Chilean team was never going to work. Was always going to run a loss.

Smart well run clubs don't get involved in poorly thought out ventures

    Meanwhile...

Sydney, WSW, Victree, City all getting involved with some of the biggest clubs in the world.

And we cancel a friendly vs some poor Chilean club.

Shows where we're at as a club.

In light of this recent discussion, this interview from the HAL website clarifies that well run clubs don't just sit on their hands and wait for applicants to come to them. Nor do they employ their mates.

How did the move to Wellington Phoenix come about?

"My contact with Wellington is since 2013.
"One of the biggest player agents Dragan Jevtic from Melbourne, who unfortunately died last year, brought us into contact in 2013.
"But in 2013 I was signed by PSV Eindhoven who at that time were starting with a totally new vision with the legend Phillip Cocu as the new head coach.
"PSV brought me in as the coach of their second team and to be part of the first team and part of their vision.
"From that time, Wellington Phoenix followed me as a coach and last year David Dome contacted me again to see if I was interested in working together.
"It surprised me that Wellington kept an eye on me and they gave me a lot of respect. It's very nice and very kind."

Their club is too small and piddly. We are waiting for a big club like Northampton.

Listening to what Lawrie the other week. He was expecting a crowd of 6k, so the crowd size wasn't the issue, from the Jets point of view, anyway.
