Gui Amor is who we should be after.

Has won a championship on a moderate budget, has strong links with European contacts, had a tough year with Adelaide but they are playing great football again.

Newcastle players will walk all over him. He's not enough of a ball breaker to get this team into line.
Technically he'd be fabulous - but just find him to be too personable when what we need someone who can lay down the law.

Ball breaking is what assistants are for.

We need a coach that can instill a style of play and recruit players to suit. That's not Merrick imo

Soccer Stoppage time said that we had offered Merrick. However i think there is a hold up in whether he is ready for it, as their are lots of talk about his part-time nature of late as close to retirement.

if it was a certainty then they would have surely announced it by now??

Soccer Stoppage Time also said Ben Kennnedy had failed a Mariners medical - to which BK replied "I didn't realise I'd had a medical there".

Take what they say with a grain of salt.

There is no such thing as Australian Marquee anymore. The 2 marquee players can be anyone in the squad. However I would be happy with Burns coming in outside the cap

Can live with the Merrick signing, but still some disappointment that we went for a used a-league coach especially when Adelaide are in the press about chasing Gabriel Batistuta. I wish the club would be more ambitious, it just seems at times that its more about saving some peoples jobs rather than whats best for the club.
Love the idea of Burns returning though.

Assuming FFA is willing to classify them as a marquee...

Honest question - what has Batigol done as a manager? Coached at local Argentinian level as far as I can deduce from the inter webs.

I don't get the fuss about chasing big name former players because maybe they will be good as coaches or managers.

That's the guest player. Unless it's changed, there is no FFA approval for marquee, it's simply two players the club designates as outside the cap.
