Wouldnt we be better off sending the players on holidays 3 weeks ago and starting pre season a few weeks earlier so the new man can bed down some strategy etc

I was about to post exactly the same thing until I saw this.
Some of the team might be doing school visits or something, although I think its a little inhumane to have the kids meet a bunch of wooden spooners.
It would be interesting to know the truth whether Martin and his footballing consultants have in fact been conducting interviews or this whole time they with mckinna have been in deep discussions with merrick about the current squad and the plans moving forward. As it was reported very early and all the media has been pretty much sold on that ernie was offered the job.

You mean a coach who has won the league and is leading another club to another title. We are not in a position to say no to a coach (If he was keen) who would improve this club tenfold
Il take the experienced coach currently under contract, whoever that be. Its good knowing your coach hasnt resigned/sacked from his last position
