No one said turn and chase... but from standing start he has (had?) surprisingly quick movement over the first short burst. Wouldn't want him chasing back after getting beat on the counter from halfway though.

Oh my bad.....I didn't realise we were judging players on the running track rather than what he can do on the field.

When I say slow I mean, closing down a player, accelerating to a ball, being agile, turning and chasing a through ball.....you know all useful stuff

The most insulting part of this signing is that he actually a minor upgrade on who we have... That just shows you how bad Boogs really is nowadays.


I'm very worried about how much coin he is on. We already have an 'old head' style defender who is getting overpaid to teach the younger guys how they think defending should be done. We probably needed another defender, but surely something different to what we already have on the books.


It must be basically fact now that McKinna has zero contacts anywhere and is only signing players/coaches that walk into his office and ask for a job? Honestly, give me Middleby back, they are both useless but at he was less of a Gypo than McKinna.

If Boogard is being moved on than this is the best signing of the year. Otherwise it's not great business.

I understand there might be a dearth of Aus CBs available but i'd almost be happier to poach some 19 yr old kid and throw them into the deep end for a year. Or bring Johnny K back from CDM to the back-line and get him in the gym.

I love it how people who pay little to no attention when details are reported then cast derision on anyone that does.

I never said I knew exactly what he earned, I said he was now in our top paid players.

If you pay attention to when players incomes are reported in the press and the subsequent moves they make to obscenely high paying leagues, it is fairly reasonable to estimate he is a top earner.

This is all about competition for starting spots, we've now got two guys competing for the "cant catch anyone" slow CB position, and two guys competing for the inexperienced bean pole CB position. It's actual a coaching master stroke by Bernie!

Ansell is probably looking for an Asia/Euro deal after finishing up with Victory.

It's one thing to say they're available as options, but REALISTIC options, they are not.

They wouldn't take the same coin as NTS, and we can't offer more, in our current situation.

I think you got this bloke confused as your back to front

He actually had decent top speed

Once he got going he was quick enough

What let him down is his initial acceleration

It's not like NTS ever contributed to a consistently successful A-league club, or had a hand in winning an ACL title. I see him as a solid upgrade over Mullen which isn't a bad thing. For those speculating over $$, we don't know what he's been offered, or whether he was just desperate to come home. How much was he on at his former club?
