    Today I Learned:

last weekend's NNSW State League Grand Final pulled nearly twice the crowd that watched the NSW Rugby Shute Shield grand final, which gets broadcast every week on ABC TV

so, when can David Eland expect a call from our government funded broadcaster?

Considering the NSWRU part funds/subsidises the SS coverage to the tune of a couple of hundred grand a year i daresay Eland would need to get on the phone to Aunty with a generous offer if he wants any tv coverage

Idk, a good coach attracts good players. If good quality players want to play in your team, it must mean that they are a good coach.

The best coach is one who makes the most of what he has, and develops/adapts to suit their style.

I've heard bigger figures that that mentioned by people involved in the SS, but either way it's a decent chunk of cash to be shelling out to get the game on tv.

As for the ABC pulling out, there's the same dire warnings re the SS every year, or at least there has been for the last 3 or 4 years, so I tend to take it with a grain of salt. Having said that, given the ABC has dropped live WNBL and W League coverage maybe this will be the year the SS finally gets cut. Doesn't help the State League if Aunty is cutting back on coverage of other niche sports though, quite aside from the fact that the major sponsor is a competitor.

I would think that the NSW Premier League would be the competition to get a look in on ABC before we ever did. I think the idea that NBN could put a highlights package together for a weekly spot on one of their three channels would be a great idea!

i think nbn could at least televise the state league grand final.

both the Newcastle rugby league and newcastle rugby union grand finals get televised for memory on NBN. would be good to have mike rabbit calling the game to
