So winning 1-0 at HT against the worst side in the local NPL is acceptable??

I am seeing them struggle against the worst side in the local NPL

The rest of the shit you just peddled is complete ****ing crap

They are paid to play football

Whether they have had a week of training or 6 months of it they should be thumping a side as inferior as Weston are

I hate to ask this....Did Weston play their 1st grade side, or a combination of 1st, 20's and 18's?

Yeah I'm with the good Member on this.
Our club has a losers mentality, and struggled all year to score goals.
Nothing better for the confidence than going out and banging in 10 or 15 against some local jamokes.

Training is for fitness and touch.
Games are for stomping whoever it is on the other side of that line into the ****ing ground.

    Mercy is for the weak.

Their first grade side is incredibly young

They have stacked it with Yoof this year as there is no relegation and they looking longer term

    4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1

Not much really out of the ordinary

The one thing to note was Bert has these ****ers playing forward more often

They passing the ****er less backwards

Yeah on the podcast I think someone said that he wanted no sideways or backwards passing

Is the issue that we can't finish the ****in thing or are Weston just defending us and we can't get a shot off

    Combo of both

    We rarely threatened

When we did our finishing was the same barnyard shit you see pre game shooting drills where the ball missing the nets by yards

Well after seeing that shit it looks like the wooden spoon will be staying in Newcastle. The worst 11 Jets should be far more convincing than that display. I hope they didn't throw away the receipt for NTS. Our defence will not cope against quality teams. The passing , first touches and athleticism we need is simply absent once again

I didn't watch so it's a bit easier for me to play optimist here, but it's early days
First real test is Adelaide in the FFA cup, if that goes tits up I have no faith for this season

Damn, and here was I being overly hopeful Bert wasn't playing Jackson because he realised just how shit he is...
Life isn't the same without Con... but it can only improve without Tinks...

Good start. A few goals to the new boys, a clean sheet, no injuries, and a chance for Merrick to start tweaking his tactics and so forth. Carry on lads.

I watched probably 20 minutes to 60 minutes.

    positives
Kantarovski played 1 back pass all night (he used to do about 20 a game)
Petratos being so underdone was still probably the best player on the field.
O Donovan will get goals this year purely on frontline press. he pressed immaculately well the jets had 90% possession mostly for that reason.

    negatives
kosta petratos & shabow are going to have to step up big time to make it even close to the starting 11 let alone the bench, were wasteful against the team coming last in the NPL
way to much passing around the box trying to be cute instead of shooting, agree with above that we should have won 10-0
Weston claiming to have the worlds best chicken burger, they aint even the best in Newcastle, Olympic are number 1

lets hope Ernie's contacts in South America are decent because we need a number 10 desperately, Wayne Brown is not a 10, he is a 6.

Totally agree with Ernie's assessment - rusty, still adapting to new style, some nice football (first goal a highlight) but could have done better. Hit crossbar and the post.

For those thinking it was a "serious" hitout and base our season on it - it was just a training exercise.

Only a dollar to get in, Jets wore training shirts with no numbers and gave all the squad a run. Topor was told from the sideline to "go easy". Hoff was playing number 8 at the end and walking. That said the first 20 mins of intensity from Weston will do them good. No injuries either on what was a slippery and bumpy surface.

    We move forward!
