Boumal surprised me initially - but 4 goals and 1 assist in 20 A-League appearances is probably less than what we need from an import.

That said, he always looked good and I think was starting to link up well with Penha. His control and ability to hold the ball up were excellent, as generally was his ball retention.

He's the only one I am would have hoped we would have signed.

I'm actually surprised it was only 6.

The likes of Kanta and perhaps even Babalj...maybe one of the midfielders from O'Doherty, Al-Taay or Wilson.

If they are going to announce Kanta - as the player with the most appearances for our club in it's history he needs a specific announcement (in my opinion). Give him the respect his contribution deserves.

I hope these releases are cause Papas already has better replacements lined up

If it allows us to secure Wilson, I am for it.

Same here, think Jordan gets overlooked quite a bit. And no that was not a crack at his height.

Wilson and Thurgate don't play well together, so I'm worried this might mean we are going to lose Thurgate to a bigger side.

Also, we've gone from 4 defensive options at the base of midfield to 2. Maybe we are moving to a 4-3-3 instead of these different formations with a 2 man midfield + Penha we've played this year. Or he's going to try again to find a better starting 6 to play beside Thurgate (at which point O'Doherty is the better bench option with his tenacity and speed over Wilson's).

Basically I don't know, but if the plan is start Wilson and Thurgate together we are in massive trouble.

Shame about O'Doherty. Though he complimented Thurgate quite well.

Let's pass the hat around to keep Penha.....

I think you've hit on a really relevant point - what formation will we primarily aim to play next year?

We look more solid with a back 3, but a back 4 has been preferred across the season.

I wouldn't assume Wilson's retention means we lose Thurgate. I hope an off-season for Wilson in the squad helps build their partnership.

It is a shame. I think he offered us something different, and while I would prefer us to keep Wilson ahead of him (as i mentioned earlier) I would have kept O'Doherty with Arques going. But it seems he just fell out of favour.

thought siatravanis was coming good at the end of the season but probably didn't warrant using a visa spot. Would have been ok with keeping yuel especially when his rumored replacement isn't that inspiring. Boumal probably on more coin than he was worth.

Appears Yuel wants to try himself overseas, so a replacement was needed- hence Sotirio

I totally agree there is a problem here, several of these players got start after start yet showed little and will be extended rather than replaced, while Sotirio will get signed to add to our duds stable, and don't be surprised if we fill other vacancies with uninspiring signings from that same agency to not strengthen the squad at all (they may well have some decent players under their management but they won't be the ones we get stuck with based on our existing signings).

He's a decent squad man, can play whatever role he is put in and always gives 100%. I'll be more concerned if he is starting next year as opposed to being off the bench or being used as an injury replacement.
