So it looks like we have two games to qualify..
Feb 12 vs Home United (Singapore) or yet-to-be-determined Indonesian champions
Feb 19 vs one of four Japanese clubs.. In Japan.

Bugger no Away day in Buriram

    We got Korea 3

    Some no name Malaysian team

And a play off winner which will be either Chinese or Thai team Bangkok Utd

If that thing pans out for Bangkok Utd away though....

Long odds that both of us will get through two play offs each

    Yep

Then if we win that we in the group stage and be at home first up in early March

Pretty confident the trophy is ours

Confirmed last night that the Japanese team will be defending ACL champions Kashima Antlers.

Korean team in our potential group is Gyeongnam FC, 4th team to be either Bangkok United or Hà Nội FC.

Not quite, Japan gets two automatic spots (first in the league and Cup winner) and 2 playoff spots based on league position.

Kashima Antlers finished the season in 3rd (playoff position) but had they won the Emperors Cup the last playoff spot (and our opponent) would have went to the 4th placed team Consodale Sapporo instead (as Kashima would have have got an automatic group spot for winning the cup), however as they were knocked out of this they instead have to qualify via a playoff against us or the Singaporean/Indonesian team.

As either Urawa or Vegalta Sendai will get the automatic group spot for winning the cup and neither finished in the top 3 of the league the 4th placed team misses out all together.

    I am in the process of putting together some travel packages for the group stage should we make it. Trying to gauge interest. If anyone is interested please message me with your contact details & advise which games you would be interested in. Currently it will most likely be;
    12th March: shandong, china
    24th April: Gyeongnan, South Korea
    8th May: Johor Darul, Malaysia

If I get some interest, I am hoping to have further details and pricing in the next couple of weeks.

This is obviously dependant on playoff results and actually qualifying.

Indonesia League wrapped up over the weekend, so we will play the winner of Home United (Singapore) and Persija Jakarta (Indonesia).

They play off on Feb 5 and we play the winner on Feb 12 in Newy.

Is this ACL thing still on?
I know it's next week, but there is no ads whatsoever, no news, not even a link to buy tickets... Great marketing here!

not having a clue who we're playing (even after they announce it) won't help crowd figures either (or it being a Tuesday night)...

Do people realise this adventure could end, Roar style, as quickly as it begins?
One of the prices we paid when Antonis scored that winner v Smurfs last season. Had Sydney won, we would have won the GF in Sydney as underdogs, we would have an ACL group spot and Melbun City would get the playoff spot. Even if we lost the GF we still had an ACL full spot.
I was actually disappointed we got the home grand final in a way.
