thought Vargas was real good tonight.
Champness was also very effective when he came on.

    good sub from Merrick.

thought the Ugabooga man was excellent too, in a very different role.
screened Bruno well, made Heart go to plan B, which they didnt seem to have.

Dimis work for the 2nd goal was outstanding.

I still cant believe it. We've made the GF on the 10 yr anniversary of our first GF.
Played well in the first half but suffered from some poor decisions in attacking positions. 2nd half stepped it up a notch or two and City had no answer.
Absolute scenes for both goals and then the full time whistle.

I have no idea how I was coherent to do the Jetstream post game video. My head was gone.

How nice will it be tomorrow night relaxing over beer and curry, watching Sydney and Victory kick the shit out of each other over 120 mins and penalties with many injuries.

We genuinely did them hey. Had 3-4 good chances in the first part. Then classic jetties. Then we went back to dominating them

what happened with the VAR decision?

    because it was a pen.
its the softest foul in the world, but if it goes upstairs its a pen.
    why was it not called?
because although it 'shouldnt' be a pen, in the world of VAR it 'has' to be a pen.

i didnt understand that one at all.
VAR decision looked to be a conversation between var and ref. Ref looked to explain why he didnt think it was a pen and stuck with his decision. Was suprised it wasnt given to be honest. Think the extra step and his diving past caught up to him. Not sure if the fact he was going away from goal also came into his thinking. Definite contact but goes to that subjective how much contact warrants a penalty.
So good to wake up amd realise it wasnt a dream.

    wow. ok then.

now before i start up my usual and long standing position that Arzani is actually trash and the same as James Virgilli, can you stat nerdy nerdz do me a favour.

can you nerdz get me some info to support the case that he is good. are there categories that back up this theory?

because in the first half im not sure he found anyone with his passes off the dribble. which actually makes the dribble useless.

2nd half i counted 3 passes that found the man.

if 3 passes (ok lets say im being a prick and give him double the number). is 6 'effective' passes in 90 mins worthy of such praise?

again, yep he can dribble. but did you see Vidosic dribble tonight and set up that goal? Did you see Vargas dribble and find feet (despite his higher degree of difficulty being in the middle of the park). Did you see Dimi putting crosses on blokes heads, or hitting the post, or forcing a save?

Arzani is trash. and overrated. again, if this is the type of player the 'experts' want to see go to Russia then Griff help us all.
Yep totally agree. He just kept taking them on and then stuffing up the important next pass and stuff the attack up. For all the good he did, he did so much crap as well and dissapeared when he changed wings in the second half. George did a good job on him. Just cant believe the hype they kept going with every time he touched the ball. He made a simple control that any player in the aleague should do and it was like he scored mcgrees goal. That evades stat fmd!

Even in the cold light of morning, that McGree goal was ****ing special. I’ve watched it a hundred times already and it’s not getting old. As much as I can’t stand Brenton Speed, I have to admit his commentary does it justice- he genuinely can’t believe what he saw, just like the rest of us.

I think we def have the half spot(qualifying round) but if victory won the gf they would get the second spot behind sydney. If Sydney win tonight we have one of the guaranteed spots.

His reaction to Mcgrees goal was classic Ernie hey...

Vargas was truly excellent, put alot of doubt to bed about he and dimi playing together.

Gotta say but, Boogs.... that is a legend performance for this club. The simple things like his chasing down of that long corner to win us another, he is a true leader!

Vargas looked up for it. Looked much sharper and effective. Didn’t dilly around with the ball.. looked to beat his man and pass forward quickly (team strength) which helped with our super quick transitions!

Boogs. He has been criticised by all, but he has earned his wages this season!!

Was impressed with Joyce postgame. Pretty much said when it came to the big moments, the Jets were the better team.

Euro fanbois around the world already saying Riley can't win Puskas award as he plays for Mickey Mouse Aussie club and Ronnie's bicycle can't be beaten.

Great foresight from City last month though...

How did the bay 1/2 tifo go? Couldn't see it from our seats and could only find a couple of partial photos in the herald.
