English by birth, I read. Maybe he's like Moss with Australian citizenship. I hope he is, anyway

Yes and no. We could try do what teams have done (Sydney for example I think last year with Fabio Ferrieira) where you bring in players just for the ACL (i.e. not A-League) but that's at our own cost.

Only having 4 players - Kanta, Ivan, Joey and Ridenton signed beyond the 18/19 season is a bit of a strange move. It will be interesting if Merrick swings the axe through the current squad and let’s a lot of them walk.

I think there was a similar situation at the start of last season. By the time Jan/Feb rolls around, I expect there will have been extensions offered and signed for those players he plans on keeping around.

Especially with 2 new teams entering the competition next season

i hear what people are saying about our stocks in the DM position. but after Ridenton, who we dont know too much about we have no one. Cowburn and Johnny K are slow, not up to the required quality.

i really think we are short of a foreign old head, especially if we can qualify for ACL!!! Someone with the skill and composure to be able to control the tempo of the game and allow Uga to fulfill the box to box midfielder role.

I am not at all sold on the Austin and Sheppard captures, i was expecting a somewhat more adventurous approach to signing this off season given the financial benefits Lee can obtain from ACL Qualification.

a lot really depends on whether Jair can be the same quality if not better than Vargas, uncertain given his last year in China wasnt of much note!

It will be interesting to see who of the foreign players misses out on the ACL.

We need to play qualifiers, so someone will miss out even for that.

    Has to be Ridenton right?

Haven’t looked at the draw/when games are.
But surely if we qualify you’d want Roy, Ronny, Jair available.

Ridenton doesn’t offer anything we can’t get elsewhere, especially for one off games that you’d hope we approach a bit more tactically.

I think you are selling Johnny K a bit short he is super composed for such a young fella, no doubt in my mind he will be a top class player in the future. I would even go as far to say that he is showing more than Kanta showed at the same age
