I think this is a really good point and I totally agree.
In its foundations i think it needed that interest from clubs to be able and somewhat likely to progress into the next round. But I think all clubs can see the value in it now and would be jumping at the chance to play an a league team.

    Thanks.

Initially the idea would have been to get as many non-A-League sides as deep into the competition as they could, evidenced by the fact the draw was planned so at least one made the semi-final. Now it's not seen as a foregone conclusion the A-League teams win and more a reward to play them (financially and in terms of exposure) than a punishment.

I suppose the counter-argument will be "who has an interest in an all A-League semi final" but realistically the Semi Final is played when the A-League season has started anyway and it brings it's own challenge around managing and extra midweek game round or two.

If this change is made, the next logical step for me is to put some reward on winning the comp - like a spot in an FFA Charity Shield (against the Grand Final winners - or League winners/2nd place if the same) and eventually an ACL spot.

I think the next step of the FFA Cup should be expanding to a national round of 64.

Or at minimum a national qualifying round.
For example the qualifying round would be 44 federation member Clubs with 22 winners going into the round of 32 with the 10 A-League Clubs.

How are clubs assisted/subsidised for travel? Is it at their own expense?

That would be an inhibitor I'd predict.

Could minimise this by having the round of 64 draw regional. Much like the first round of the League Cup in England. Get rid of the draw rigging from Rnd 32 on and just have regional (North/South) or state based pots for the round of 64.

The two pot draw really should be a thing of the past.

I'd rather see a seeded draw and an actual set bracket for at least the Round of 16 onwards, if not Round of 32.
That way everything is clear and in black and white and there can be no claims of fixed "random" draws

The fact WSW have taken barely any games to Penrith is a bit of a joke. Especially while their stadium is being renovated.

if they had any clue they would have been splitting them between Penrith and Campbelltown and Belmore and establishing their presence in Wetern Sydney more

its kind of sad seeing Brilliante turn from a once promising footballer into nothing but a hacking disruptor.
I cant see how anyone would enjoy their football being told to carry on like that.
