I don't wish to overreact but someone should bury our rubbish club.

I actually thought the game kicked off at 5 and missed the whole thing

I should do this every week - much better way to be a Jets supporter

That's not an overreaction. Fold the entire league, I'm sick of putting myself through this crap.

Well at least we've found our form again. We walked around for 80 mins trying to remember who each other were. Such slow build up, no urgency in defence, Hoffman is a great bloke but he isn't a striker. Set up a back line with 2 CBs and 2 FBs and maybe we will have a platform to work off. We looked like a team playing a trial game with players just tying to get fitness and touch.

I'd say Ernie is 75% responsible for his tactics and setup.

Yep was thinking the same, Ernie needs to take some ownership for today. Jackson ?, Then replacing him with a specialist F/B so wasting a sub to make that change.

Only thing I can think of is us playing a bit lopsided and georgie played a lot higher up the park and put extra pressure on their right side. We had a little success with this early but then they adjusted and jair+George both drifted out of the game

What odds are being offered about Jair not being here after Christmas ? I hope Lawrie kept the receipt and that the store has a good returns policy.

He was certainly disappointing first time out in a real match. He was also no lone ranger in that department. Just a real dysfunctional performance from Ernie down.

I wasn't sure why he was out there from the start. With two fit specialist fullbacks in George and the peoples champ it was one of those odd selections from Ernie.

Vujica from memory was more than serviceable at the beginning of last season til injury put the brakes on him and from that moment on he was in and out of the squad. Watching a replay of the GF and then yesterdays game Hoff is not the answer til Roy returns and if Jair is then that also adds to Ernie's poor judgement yesterday.

Vujica was in and out last year after his great start because he had tonsillitis 4 times. He's since had them out

Bon's "Inebriated at the Grain Store" player ratings/comments:
*These views may not represent reality or thoughts processed by a human brain*

Moss - 6. Had a few confused moments, but didn't do anything too flappy. Was very unlucky with the penalty, having saved it but parrying straight back to the kicker.
Georgievski - 3. Not for the oggie, that sh!t happens. Just for the rest of the game. Bloke had one of the worst games (for his usual high standards) that I've seen in a while.
NTS - 5. I don't know how many times that the ball went past him one way, and he was looking the other.
Boogs - 6. Made some good interventions and was good to see him getting his noggin' on a few of our corners. Still looked a bit shakey at times.
Jackson - 5. Yet another player that I want to do well, but just don't know if he's got it. I'm still not sure on Ernie's decision process to start him where he was, maybe that was it?
Stevie U-Gee - 6. Worked hard as usual. Can't remember too much more.
Ridenton - 5. I'm not sure what to make of him still. Can't help but feel he will be riding the pine once Backdoor Benny is injury free.
Jair - 4. Very unimpressed. I'm happy to be proved wrong, in fact, I REALLY hope that I am, but going off this first game, he looked less than average.
Vargas - 8. Looked the best of a bad bunch. Almost always looked great when he was on the ball.
Petratos - 7. Had an ok game, but for a bloke like him, I expect more. Gave the ball away a bit, and a few of his free kicks/corners weren't to his usual standard.. Scored a nice goal though, looked hungry, and noticeably worked back..
Hoffa - 5. I want Hoff to do well, I really do.. Buuuuuuuuuuut we need Roy back, asap.

Mitch Autism - Don't even remember him being subbed on, let alone doing anything. Actually, I only just realised it was him that ran on to the ball to lay off to Dimi for the goal.
Ivan - Still have no idea why he wasn't started. The only reason I can think of, is his lack of pace?
Sheppard - Had a few ok touches, but by the stage of his introduction I was trying to choose between a red IPA and a chocolate Stout..

Plenty of confidence in the bloke. I am also wanting to see him play up top and i may very well be wrong but i thought that was why he was signed up, To fill that void left by Irish til his return from suspension. I have no doubt having watched the Roar v Gypo game had Jair been afforded the same number of opportunities that Taggart was in the first half then we may very well be discussing a brace for Jair upon his A League debut for the club.

He needs to be a better option than Hoff at the point because we need a better option than Hoff, We can't be giving the opposition a 8 game head start in to the season all because we relied on a stop gap at best Right F/B come striker to lead the line. Hoff just ain't accomplished enough in that position to be relying on him for a third of the season.
