The Newcastle Jets have come a long way. We used to develop players for other clubs or as a welfare centre for players unable to get contracts elsewhere due to lack of talent of injuries.
Now we are trialling coaches for other clubs to poach.
I wonder how long ago Carl was approached ?
I wonder if the deal with the Petratos brothers, Donachie, Millar and so on were strategic given they and Robinson all share the same Management Agency.

What happened with Robinson and Avid in the MLS was a signal that he couldn't be trusted - and I reckon if we do some digging this WSW deal will be not much different.

Then you have Uga , Langlois, and Ledley also under the Avid Banner.

I reckon Ugarkovich is as good as gone. [Legally no player would be obliged to honour their existing contracts].

Please sign GVE as coach so we can be in no doubt about the relationship between the club and the fans.

That would demonstrate far too much respect to fans.

    That's 2 coasties gone in 1 window isn't it?

Some positives to enjoy at least.

I know this sounds a bit reactionary. But with Uga gone and Lawrie still here, I genuinely can't think of many reasons to follow the Jets anymore. There's still a couple of the boys that I have respect for within the playing group, but mostly it's guys that I don't really care for. The coaching staff come and go so quickly these days that I can't really care about them anymore. The owner and CEO can fark right off. They did get rid of the red and blue nonsense, which was a great move IMO. Jetman is cool I guess, he does flips. The kids running around at halftime is still probably the best football I get to watch every other week, hopefully they still get to play with Covid regulations.

I never minding losing most weeks and having basket-case owners when we at least had the F3 derby to look forward too. Nowadays they are basically all former teammates anyway, it's brave to even call it a rivalry anymore. Don't even get me started on our CEO organising crappy PR stunts with the opposition each year like an uncool dad trying to be hip and happening.

Can someone start a thread with lists of positives from the club. I don't suspect it will be very long, but there could be something in there to keep us around a bit longer.

So if Uga goes, what is our current best 11? Do we even have 11? Assuming we stick to 352 or 532 whatever it was:
    Italiano
    Hoff Boogs Topor Johnny Otoole
    Kangaroo thurgate
    Ibini
    Kosta Roy

    Pretty bare bones

The fact that going to WSW is seen as an ambitious move, says it all about the reputation of the Jets.

I would only loan or sell him overseas, too good of a player to loose for free. I certainly wouldn't release him to another A League club. Maybe he needs to realise that every A League club will be rebuilding this year with a hugely reduced salary cap.
Maybe time to give Mitch Oxborrow another go, only 25 surely he should be in his prime in next couple of years.
