unless it got changed when he signed the new contract it seems to be lucas
Possibly, but my interpretation of this is that he signed an upgraded deal to an A-league contract from a scholarship deal originally in the year he signed the extention.

I'm actually ok with his signing. Sounds like they made him jump through hoops to earn his spot, and if I remember him properly, he could be a good Plan B. If we can't break teams down with pressure and pace, he gives us some height and ability to pull the ball down and link with others. Plus, surely his finishing must be as good or better than Roy's last season.
He's only scored one goal in the last 8 years - and that was in the Thai 2nd division.
Add to that a ruptured ACL in 2016 and I hope we signed him to a minimum wage contract.
The kid from Melbourne Heart we saw in 2010 is a distant memory and several classes above the player he is now.

I tweeted that not long after the teaser by googling Mario, Elche and Midfield.

I could be wrong but a few of the "jets news" Twitter accounts have run with it from somewhere (me or others).

This. Club talking up monies for a marquee and land on this bloke would be typical Jets.

My thoughts are that if we had been offered this squad last year, we would have jumped at the chance. I'm willing to give Papas the benefit of the doubt that he is trying to assemble a champion team as opposed to a team of champions. Expressing doubt is fine, but some of the narrow minded negativity on here is amazing.

For what we were a year ago I am very happy. You couldn't expect marquee signings just like that and nothing wrong with getting no names that the coach knows.

2 or 3 players won't work of course but the business done the last few months is very good. Look forward to the product.

Doesn't look like we were ever an option:

we can't be doing too bad with our signings and the impression it's having on the casual fans, the brother in law said to me yesterday he may be interested in coming along to a match this season to see how some of the new signings are going, that's not a bad sign
Life isn't the same without Con... but it can only improve without Tinks...
