What a load of horse shit this decision is. We would be lucky to get 7500 to this match in a stadium that holds over 30k , Even the Eastern top end could be opened up to allow greater distancing of the crowd.

Other measures could have been invoked inc the wearing of masks even whilst seated if need be.

The club owes us a more thorough explanation as to who ultimately made this decision and more importantly where did the health advice come from that recommended this course of action or are they just making up there own.

Without any specific advice from NSW health too go down this path the club cannot justify this decision in any way.Club management must be living on another planet if they think Covid is going away anytime soon and yet they have set quite the precedent now.

The mainstream media and its prolonged mania wins again. It's panic - Boxing Day racing gone and the Herald wants the fireworks to go too.

94% vaccinated, death rate and hospitalization rates dropping despite the increase in cases, which was predicted all along.

Very few if any cases are transmitted outdoors and everyone has the choice to go or not and wear a mask if they wish.

    This is knee-jerk.

Someone at the club has sh!t the bed big time on this one.

Any of us could go to a large number of (indoor) pub/club venues and watch the game, far less socially distanced than at the ground, sink (full strength) p!ss, sing, scream, dance etc. but we can’t go to an outdoor stadium that holds 30k and sit in a seat where social distancing can be managed, a buffer can be put between players & the crowd etc.

The public can make their own personal choices to attend/not attend, they don’t need the club to make knee jerk reactions based on fear. The statement made by the club made no mention of health advice, whether it be from HNE or the State health service, which suggests they weren’t consulted. On the same day, 72k people will be at the MCG watching the cricket. Absolutely bonkers.

Bedwetters. Perhaps we should send the club a lifetime supply of plastic mattress protectors so they can gift them to the individuals responsible for this decision.

Bring back Middleby post haste. Not even he could have managed to create such a f^&* up of a situation.

What a joke these people are.
    Pathetic.
Same assholes will be standing around shrugging their shoulders when the league collapses again going "well, we did all we could".

Flicked over to ABC 24 this arvo just as they mentioned several FFA Cup matches had been postponed this weekend, I'm assuming this decision to play behind closed door is part of that, is it just NSW matches being affected?

I was actually thinking they may have done it as they expected a crap crowd with the covid stuff in Newcastle, people watching the cricket instead, and that it would have cost them more for the catering than what it was worth to them...
Life isn't the same without Con... but it can only improve without Tinks...

Perth are affected too. They're getting them back into WA so naturally the games won't occur.

I'm struggling to follow it all and the reasons why, tbh.

In light of the new restrictions announced for NSW, a game behind closed doors still doesn't make much sense.
I guess they won't change their minds at this stage though.

Quick Shane take a look at the crowd in Sydney for the Carol's ya frigg'n halfwit.

For years we stunk on the pitch and now we have club management carrying the baton of stupidity. Not like Sydney is struggling through Rona eh Shane ?. Bet there glad down there you are not running the show, You would turn it into a shit sandwich in next to no time.
