Was archbold injured all season? If he wasn’t then it’s safe to say he’s as good as gone

He made the bench a few times and came on for one 9 minute appearance

Kosta Barbarouses, Luciano Narsingh, Trent Buhagiar, Mustafa Amini, Harry Van der Saag, Callum Talbot, Anton Milnaric, Chris Zuvela, Calem Nieuwenhof and Liam McGing all got released from Sydney the other day.

Personally I’d take Amini, think him paired up with Thurgate would be a solid pairing

Far out!! That's a large list.

You might need to enlarge that to read it properly, but so far we haven't released any of the six players we signed from the same agency this season - will the majority of our new players be coming from this mob I wonder?
Life isn't the same without Con... but it can only improve without Tinks...

    3 Jason Hoffman - Announced as re-signed, 1 year
    5 Ben Kantarovski
11 Daniel Penha - Loan - see what happens
13 Brandon Wilson - I preferred O'Doherty, but Wilson is OK - keep unless better option
14 Mohamed Al-Taay - meh, don't think we need so many backup midfielders but do need some.
16 Kosta Grozos - meh - preferred Al-Taay to Grozos but maybe there's something I don't see, won young player of the year for us somehow, maybe a training God.
    20 Michael Weier - keep
    23 Eli Babalj - meh
25 Samuel Silvera - loan - Showed promise at the end of the season, wouldn't mind keeping as a bench player
    26 Archie Goodwin - Keep
    28 Blake Archbold - Who?

    Expiring 22/23
02 Dane Ingham - signed until 22/23 - need better as a first choice
05 Jordan Elsey - signed until 22/23 - See how he goes next season, hopefully with a new partner
06 Matthew Jurman - signed until 22/23 - Had one good game all season imo, for the assumed coin and being club captain, needs to do better
09 Beka Mikeltadze - signed until 22/23 # - Classy player, I would guess would work even better alongside another striker or more goalscoring wingers.
27 Lucas Mauragis - signed until 22/23 ^ - keep, decent option off bench
32 Angus Thurgate – signed until 22/23 - keep, key team member
    30 Noah James - signed until 22/23 ^ - no idea
44 Riley Warland - signed until 22/23 - Looked OK towards the end, maybe viable as backup defender.

    Expiring 23/24
    23 Jack Duncan - signed until 23/24

9 players signed for next season
    - 9 A-League squad players from possible 23
    - 1 Visa spot (Mikeltadze) from possible 5
    - 4 Scholarships (Mauragis, James, Goodwin and Archbold) from possible 3 (?)
Need a new CB and some wingers - we could do with a lot of "starters" to be honest.
From above list, I'd only have Beka, Penha (if) Gus, Weier, Elsey as preferred starters. Goodwin if fit?
Hoff, Wilson, Mauragis, Warland, Silvera can do a job.
Rest are bench material or replaceable for me.

Hoff given another year and Weir given 2

I’m happy with Weir, can accept Hoff for one more season in a bench capacity

You've got to have squad players. Happy with Hoffman.

Weier will be pushing as a starter.

I've liked what I've seen from Weier so far. There's been a couple of shots where I thought he might have done better, I think mainly diving for low, wide shots.
His distribution, sweeping, commanding the area, ball skills I think are all an upgrade on Duncan.

Happy with Hoff provided he isn’t a first choice option. Good utility value. Local.

This is also why we are perpetually shit.
Sydney have a poor season so have a mass clear out and will go bring in some good players next season just as Victree did this season

We on the other hand look at keeping players who are not good enough 2 -3 -4 you take your pick how many years ago and then pay them to stay here

It's amatuer hour thinking looking at how we can keep players who ain't up to the mark

Apparently Archie, Al-Taay and Grozos are expected to sign contract extensions.

The link to McGarry and Sotirio is still floating around

The club is still in talks with Penha (expected to take a big money offer with Sydney), Wilson, Silvera and surprisingly Babalj who I imagined was a shoe in to be released

Assume he’s on a pretty minimum wage, senior member of the squad can mentor the younger players coming through, can do a job at multiple positions if need be. If we are going to re-sign any of our current players that “ain’t up to the mark”, I’d be happiest with Hoff.

Should he be starting, no. But he’s probably just as good as any other squad player we’d be bringing in to replace him for the same $.
(There’s a big assumption here, he ain’t getting paid much)

Also, “mass clean out”, we will have released just as many players as Sydney have.

Yes Sydney may have released just as many players as us but they won't be signing players of Hoffman's quality will they ??

I guess that's possible when you have your own money to spend.
