If you look at some of the successful clubs this year such as Central Coast, Adelaide and Sydney they are all producing and developing juniors that end up playing A League.
We all talk about the Jets not producing players, apart from Archie Goodwin of late. But how is the youth team supposed to supply players for the A League when they are in the 3rd tier of NPL?

All the other NSW teams have a side in the top NSW NPL, but our side is in the third tier. It's a massive advantage for the other 4 teams. I guess we all hope they will be up there in 2 to 4 years but there is no guarantees.

Given how well Sydney FC's youth team has performed in the NSW NPL. Should we not try and get 3 to 4 of their players and put in our senior squad? Look I'm all for getting local players but that might be 2 years off given where they are currently playing. I'm also for promoting the top Jets kids like Angus Muddle and Ben Van Dorssen.

But I think instead of possibly signing other fringe A League players it might be worth signing 3 to 4 Sydney fc youth players, give them 2 year contracts and see how that goes. After all their youth team beat Apia 4-0 the other night who were the competition leaders. We need to try something

It's a very valid point you raise
We were in the top grade of NNSW PL...we chose to move under Lawrie as CEO. Why? To develop better talent? It's a long game move as you point out.

And even so, will we be attracting locals from the region or will they be staying with NNSW clubs and comp?? The outcomes won't be seen for another 2 or 3 years.

It would be interesting to know how many players have opted to play in the NNSW NPL rather then play with the Jets youth. Least you don't have to travel to Sydney every second week.

Interesting to see if any kids from the area are playing for the mariners instead. As they are in NSW NPL and they promote their youth.

You don't hear basically anything about the Jets youth these days. Maybe the move wasn't as beneficial as first thought.

Well if the rumours on Papas are true then they won't be joining anytime soon

Unfortunately they got ****ed over due to Covid.

They started out in Div 4 so should have had a promotion or two by now and be in Div 2

But due to Covid crippling seasons they ain't got anywhere at all

They restructured the set up this season and went to 3 divisions from 4 so they are closer to the top flight but ain't got anywhere yet

It's unfortunate but the whole Covid thing and the timing of the Jets making this move haven't exactly been blessed with fortune
