If you’re up for a good laugh, just have a look at all of old mates forum posts. What an embarrassing human hahaha. No idea who you are pal, but I guess it’s nice that you are always thinking of me. All the best for the season

26 goals for the first round ! I?m banking on some rusty defences
Other than the Olympic result over Mayfield things went pretty much to script over the weekend.
Olympic were solid in their first year of the top grade so I probably shouldn?t have underestimated them.
Mayfield are always quality and will bounce back from that.

Bay too good for a depleted Westlakes. Even the one goal had some question marks on it with the GK cleaned up on the goal line when a free kick was put in high. Couldn?t see what actually happened as there were about 15 blokes all around it, but GK finished on the deck with rib injury
30 goals in the opening round.
It?s a bit of an anticlimax now having the week off.

Did anyone get a glimpse of the Cardiff Dudley match?

    yep sure did.

Take the result in the end, shows us what we have to do moving forward, compared to last year.
Wasn't a bad game for the 1st game of the season from both sides, i dont think either side played to their full potential.

Picked up 2 bad ankle injuries in lower grades and 1st grade keeper went to hospital straight after the game and failed concussion test.
So the knock he took at about the 60min mark wasn't an act.

What happened in the lower grades? Dudley were practically invincible in 3rds and Res last year. Bit of a shock seeing them drop points in both in the first hit out of this season.

a bit of grit, a bit of luck they couldn't hit the side of a barn from 2 foot, bit of this, bit of that and that's football my friend.

They no doubt had more chances in both grades, but in the end goals win games and goals draw games (dudley 79min).

    Cheers

Looks like you are living rent free in his head?

I love a bit of banter, but from time to time it needs to be backed up. So far Suns have the runs on the board. The tide will turn eventually.
Sunday in two weeks looks a big day.
Kotara v Warners Bay , and Dudley host the Suns. It will be a good benchmarking weekend

Great to have football back again

Haha it seems that way! The banter is fun, but old mate seems to only have one thing on his mind. I guess it’s better to be talked about than not at all..

I don’t even talk about the Suns performances or brag at all, so I’m not sure what the gripe is about. I don’t bag out WB either, so I’m not sure what the go is.

It’s a shame both those games on the same day. Been a while since Suns and Dudley have played early in the season. It’s often been one of the later rounds which I think usually has both teams hit the ground running by then. Both those fixtures should be a good watch!

Who else thinks this new rule that 2 duty officers are needed to walk all the referees on and off the field is ridiculous? Where have the referees been in any danger? All clubs have so much more things to worry about on game days than this, if the club's duty officers home or away are doing what they're meant to this wouldn't be necessary.

That?s the issue. I?ve seen clubs where the duty officer is on the beers with spectators and shouting abuse at the ref and linos.
Responsible clubs have to deal with this because some clubs won?t do the basics.
It?s not that big of an issue, but it could have been avoided if everyone was doing the right thing already

Each club has been required to supply 1 duty officer for quite a few years-nothing new-

Missing my point. I'm aware clubs have been doing this for years. However, what's the reason behind clubs requiring to escort refs off the field, has something happened that hasn't been shared?

When some of refs are that bad the threats flow in. Youve all heard it over the years

I have as a clubbie last year.

So much so that I stayed in the changing room for about an hour and made sure I left with a large group. Thankfully, the club I was involved with was the home team, but the way some people behave over a game is frankly embarrassing. I ended up getting messages through social media from people involved with the club. That’s not on.

Duty officers can only do so much with spectators, but they can’t really get involved with the players or team officials.

As for this, it doesn’t ****ing matter how bad a ref is, they’re human reffing a game. You threaten someone in the streets, the cops get called on you, but because it’s on a football field it’s okay? **** off, we don’t need or want you in the game.

From what Ive been told it wasnt one specific incident in Newcastle, rather a general unease at how referees were treated by crowds and coaching staff and the amount of young referees that have been lost to the game over the past few seasons. For the sake of everyone being able to get 3 qualified, competent experienced officials every game means they need to be looked after a bit better. This is one measure. If referees feel better for having it,and people think twice before having a dig at a minor earning a couple of dollars then good. Its all tied back to the crackdown on language/abuse etc this season. But incidents are few and far between and the majority of clubs self police pretty well so I dont think its a big deal to have them there (and yes I know you werent saying that, just thought id try and answer your question).

Yeah and your “truth” is the exact reason people give it away. It’s really easy to say that the refs are bad when you’ve never done a LotG course yourself.

I stand by my comment that people like you need to **** off out of the game.

    FMD.
Even if this forum is a small sample size, comments like this represent the mindset of some people out there on weekends.

You can’t tell somebody to feel safer. If an escort helps prevent anything, go for it.
