One thing is probably clear now is that only 6 teams can make the finals from now on, unless someone goes on a massive run and wins all remaining games.

We (merewether) have played 3 off those teams within the last week and lost by a goal in each game.

    Lost 3-2 to Lambton
    Lost 1-0 to Charlestown
    Lost 3-2 to Nelson bay

Not much between all those sides and disappointing for us to come away with nothing at the end. Especially given we led Nelson Bay 2-0 and Lambton scored 2 penalties and we played most of the second half in that game with 10 men.
Well it seems your run of disappointment ends and with a team you didn?t write off

As for the top of the table
2-1 win over a Charlestown that sadly had to forfeit ressies
The goals were 2 of the best crosses you?ll ever see. Charlestowns goal came from their first grade coach

Congratulations to Barnsley, finals football is on the way. Who knows, possibly minors and promotion. I will be honest I thought Barnsley would have finished 6th to 7th, most other teams are where I expected other then Greta. I definitely expected them to finish top 6, they still might make a late run but finals look gone.

Good win for us (merewether) on Wednesday night, 3-0 win over a good suburbs team especially as we had 4 of our best out.

Is there a match report this week DJ? Or does that only happen when Barnsley win games?

Sorry still drying my tears, have not heard the opposition singing for a good long time (Suburbs did not have a song)

To win promotion you?ve got to win games. We will win from now on.

So the answer is YES, Match reports only occur when Barnsley win games.

    I wish
    Bulldogs vs the (coach-less) Flowers
    Res 1-1
a banging goal that was surely 30 yards out, opened the scoring for the Doggies sometime around the 60th. Gerrard might have possessed the boys with a slip opening a path to goal for a tap in for the wallflowers.

    Firsts 1-0 Jaffas
2 yellows in the first 10 minutes (one each way)
15 in both teams had lost a midfielder to injury, the 42 second minute Jaffas get another yellow for continuing their ressies trend of throwing themselves studs first at opposition ankles. 0-0 but the bulldogs were clearly the better )
Nothing really happened for 30 minutes of the second apart from a Barnsley player caught it in his knees and had the foul blown against him for illegally controlling the ball?????
Jaffas scored in the 75th/80 off a freekick from close to the right sideline into the top left.
In fairness it was a well contested match and neither side dropped off the entire match.

Anyone know what happens if games get washed out this weekend? Some teams have 5 games to play in 1 week. Do we think they?ll be called a draw if washed out this weekend?

We at Merewether united are one of the teams with 5 games to go. We have them all allocated, including playing 2 games the week before the finals. That being Monday 26th and Wednesday 28th, I'm guessing if we can't get through all they will be called a draw.

At the moment it's play on, might have to move games to anywhere we can get on including moving a day back if required.

    Bulldogs vs Marlins
They provided a pitch which everyone is thankful for, just seemed like the pitch set aside for zone league had about half the grass coverage the u12s got at the same time

    Reserves 9-0 NB

was 4-0 within about 15 minutes, a red card for 2x yellow (both dissent) at about the 30 minute mark ("finally we get a freekick" was the send off)
Rallied for a better second half with 10 men and our president putting on a masterclass for the last 25 minutes of the game. My guess is there was at least 4 own goals

    Firsts
    4-3 NB

Nelson bay opened the scoring with a tap-in back stick before going 2-0 up with an own goal/deflection . Barnsley brought it to 2-1 with a penalty. Bay went on to score again along with another own goal to get them to 4-1
Barnsley came out more renewed in the second half, with their striker scoring to bring it to 4-2 before the Bulldogs keeper pulled off yet another penalty save (>70% save rate from pens this year). Barnsley had another pen to bring the game to 4-3 in the dying minutes.

Was told by a ZL3 player he heard there was chaos at Kurri yesterday?
Lots of red cards and first grade only lasted 30 minutes before southern lakes walked off?
    Is this true?

I wonder if it was a club ref.

Not like we haven't heard of this stuff coming out of Kurri before.

I was at the game and yes it was a club referee who in my opinion dealt with the situations to the best of his ability. Apparently he has previous referee experience!

As for the send offs two out of the three in reserve grade were for violent conduct. The first a southern players punched a Kurri player off the ball knocking the Kurri player too the ground. The second was a coming together between a Kurri player and southern GK both players on the ground the southern players lashed out and kicked a Kurri player. The other was two yellows for verbal abuse to a referee. An official referee wouldn?t have given a warning!

As for the first grade game southern never looked interested and with Kurri being up 1-0 at the time a southern player received a yellow for verbal abuse again before receiving another some 5 minutes later for the same thing. Their captain then forfeited the game and all players shook hands and walked off the field.

I have never seen or heard anything like this before and while everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that all of the cards were warranted. Kurri also received a number of cards but showed a bit more self control when it came to refereeing decisions that in my opinion were called fairly.

The match report I was told was very similar. The ' Club' referee we have had before, On that occasion he was a decent referee. Apparently he used to be a NNSW referee.

A will add that punching players is starting to come into games alot more frequent then in the past. The federation have had a massive crackdown on verbal abuse, maybe they need to lengthen the suspensions more for the physical stuff. I think what some people don't realise that anything that happens on the field can easily end up in the courtroom. That's how the world is going.

Sounds like should've been an additional three red cards for the Southern Lakes players.,
