How about its a public forum so anyone can preach whatever the hell they want?
Endorsing the management dross we have put up with season on season with your membership payments doesn't somehow make someone else's opinion less valid.
I didn't intend to preach anything. I was just introducing myself in view of being called a "Fed".
The main opinion I was trying to express was that 20 years on, the club is in no better shape (in a lot of respects) than when the A-League first started. In fact, this may be the worst season yet for stability. So, yeah, I'm willing to drive down to Sydney for the "Unite Round" and giving support to new owners.
I think buying season tickets is great. But my experience in a lot of areas of my life is that to build a sustainable crowd to 15,000 takes a certain X factor in terms of culture, excitement, community, habit and communication that people either inside or outside the club have to actively manage or at least resist suppressing.
Dezy, do you think we need a new coach?
Not yet unless the players can't work with the current one. The club is better spending money elsewhere than on a payout. I didn't mind how the Jets played against MacArthur on the weekend, despite the loss.
The bigger question is how the club is going to spot, recruit and retain talent going forward. This involves the entire management team and the assistant coaches, not just the head coach.
What's your opinion?
I think the key to good management is that you firstly have good knowledge of the industry and have to work harder than any of the workers, otherwise you won't gain their respect. Next you have to be likeable and personable so they admire you. Third you have to be proactive and address problems quickly in a way that shows everyone that you are acting in the best interests of them and the organisation.
I don't think it's a good idea just to look at specific people. You almost need a personality test to objectively evaluate their character.
I've had a bit of a look at Stanton, watched a few of his post match interviews and what he said in a Newcastle Weekly interview when he arrived. I think there is a lot to like about him as an appointment, especially in terms of the points that I posted above about what makes a good manager.
He seems to be calm and confident in interviews. It has been stressed to him the importance of embracing the community by others in the club. He acknowledges that there were weaknesses in the season that were exposed early (conceding goals) which the players worked on through the season, but was part of them attempting to take risks in playing attacking football.
I can see him being a guy that the players would want to play for. Have there been any hints otherwise?
Apologies in advance if wrong thread but has anybody else's tracking details for there membership delivery not updated since the email tracking number went out ?
I received an email yesterday saying it's on the way. Mine is sitting at "DISPATCHED".
Did you see the email a little while ago saying the factory compiling the packs for the club experienced a fire and there would be delays as a result?

Transition complete....
I will wish him all the best - it was not an easy gig.SHANE MATTISKE COMPLETES TERM AS NEWCASTLE JETS CEO
CEO Shane Mattiske has announced he will transition out of his role at the Newcastle Jets after almost four years leading the Club.
Mattiske was the lead for the consortium that stepped in to save the Club early in 2021 and is now moving out of his role after establishing a strong foundation for the Club?s future and successfully bringing in new ownership for the Newcastle Jets, with the sale to Maverick Sports Partners.
Mattiske said:
?It is now six months since we locked in new ownership for the Club and created a new foundation for the future of the Jets and football in this community.
It is truly a great thing to have Maverick Sport Partners behind our Club and supporting its growth moving forward. I want to again thank Maurice Bisetto and the broader Jets ownership group for their belief in this Club and the potential of this community.
I also want to acknowledge the significant commitment that our outgoing owners made to supporting our Club and backing the shift to a new future for the Jets.
With the beginning of this new chapter for the Club, it is the appropriate time for me pass leadership to Maurice and the new ownership group. The last four years has been an incredible experience and one that, despite some challenging times, I will always value. I've been privileged to be part of a Club that is so important to such a big community and one that has such potential for the future. I will always have the Club's success on my mind and will continue to do whatever I can to support its future.
I have sincerely valued the relationships that I have built with the Club?s members, fans, staff and players, with our great sponsor and partner family and with the football community as a whole. I thank all of this football community for their support through this important chapter of the Club?s history and I look forward to being part of this great Jets family into the future.?
Maverick Sports Partner Executive Director Maurice Bisetto paid tribute to Mattiske after his time at the Newcastle Jets.
?The last four years have been a difficult period for the Jets. Under Shane?s stewardship, the organisation has navigated turbulent waters and is now well positioned to embark on a new era.
On behalf of Maverick Sports Partners and the community we thank Shane for his contribution to the Newcastle Jets.?
Maurice Bisetto will act as interim CEO while the Club finalises its search for Mattiske?s successor.
