I think the season is going to be like all the previous seasons recently where we finish outside the top 6.

The only difference is we have an ownership group who want to make the team a success long term. That's enough to get me excited for this season. I'm just hoping for some good game day fun and home wins, and maybe the creation of a few fan favourites. I think Lockie Rose could be one.

My view on things is that until recently most other teams had regressed back towards us more-so than us gaining ground on them. All eyes will be on Douglas Costa and Juan Mata for sure but the amount they've played (or lack thereof) will put a lot of pressure on Sydney.

I think we will still be making up the numbers but realistically we should be aiming for automatic Australia Cup qualification...so 8th or above.

Regardless it's a big season for lots of players coming off contract and especially the coach. I suspect the new owners are getting the house in order this season, assessing where things are at before making bigger moves next season.

Without a seasoned 9 n 10 i have concerns. No doubt we have young players with huge potential in these positions but without a dominant midfielder in particular to control " our " game when we have our foot on the ball i see more of the same.

    All IMO

....and, the Jets are the only Australian club not to have a player in the young Socceroos for the U20 Asia Cup qualifiers. Not a good look

Yet our youth team went undefeated this year, maybe the sectors aren?t looking hard enough
What more do they need to do.

It's been mentioned a few times that the youth team are in nsw npl third tier.

For mine it's pretty simple, perform in second tier next year and recognition will come. Every other Youth team are currently in first or second tier NPL competitions. So no surprises to me given the above.

    Brazilian Wellissol signs.

From the Members email at 7 this morning:

The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Brazilian forward Wellissol for the 2024/25 A-League season.
Wellissol joins the Newcastle Jets from Brazilian side Brusque FC. The attacker also has experience playing in Switzerland with Eschen/Mauren.
The Brazilian is eager to hit the ground running in Newcastle.

"I'm very happy to be here in Newcastle. I want to show our fans what I can do as a player and excite them. I have come here to help the team win and I can't wait to play in front of the fans for the first time which will be in round one."

Newcastle Jets Head Coach Rob Stanton said.

"I'm very happy to bring Wellissol here to Newcastle. He's going to provide a different point of view in attack.
He's very good at taking players on with his dribbling. I'm very excited to see what he can do in this team."

Wellissol will wear the number 10 shirt.
