I thought Natta was holding his own right up until there was talk about him getting a move and then his form dropped away.

Yeah, have been talking with Frodo about it today..

Rumour from X/Twitter was that its 26 year old Brazilian forward Willissol who was playing for Brusque in Brazilian second league..
No idea if there is anything to it.
Didn't the paper say something about an Italian the other day?

We’re close to signing Wellissol and APIA striker Ben Gibson. Once we’ve signed both of them that’s it for us, this’ll be our squad for the season

So Gibson better than the Edgy striker banging them in for fun?

I'm trying to find things not to like about Stanton but I'm not seeing many. Is it not a good thing that a former Sydney FC youth player wants to be coached by Stanton?

You answer is probably Yes and that's the reason a local hasn't been signed.

Look at the Australian Cup performances by some of the other state NPL teams. In the round of 32 , Victorian NPL teams beat A League opposition in all 3 matches between them. I can't see that happening between NNSW NPL teams and A League opposition.

I mentioned Gibson back in June on this forum and that he was worth a shot. Very quick, but could have easily scored more for APIA. I Have seen him be a little wasteful at times but hopefully will convert more as he gets more experienced.

Kiwi player at Edgeworth was mentioned before, his numbers have been incredible this season. I can't remember in recent seasons a striker with such a good goals to games ratio. If they were going to take a player from the local NPL it would have to be him.

It?s all gone a bit quiet on signings, a few clubs have started to roll out some big guns, I?m not overly confident with our squad looking at others, could be a long season

I think the season is going to be like all the previous seasons recently where we finish outside the top 6.

The only difference is we have an ownership group who want to make the team a success long term. That's enough to get me excited for this season. I'm just hoping for some good game day fun and home wins, and maybe the creation of a few fan favourites. I think Lockie Rose could be one.

My view on things is that until recently most other teams had regressed back towards us more-so than us gaining ground on them. All eyes will be on Douglas Costa and Juan Mata for sure but the amount they've played (or lack thereof) will put a lot of pressure on Sydney.

I think we will still be making up the numbers but realistically we should be aiming for automatic Australia Cup qualification...so 8th or above.

Regardless it's a big season for lots of players coming off contract and especially the coach. I suspect the new owners are getting the house in order this season, assessing where things are at before making bigger moves next season.

That's my big concern as well.
