That quote (in regards to Welli) rings true for tonight. imagine flying half way around the world only to be kept on the bench in your teams one of three biggest games of the season in a game we were never winning. At this point I’d rather we move him on for our sake and for his, and give what few minutes he gets to Nunes or Bracco who could use the experience

Maurice was on NBN the other day saying that in the future they hope to have the bulk of the team made from local players. That would mean the total dismantling of the current talent development system, which I would be in favour of because it obviously doesn't produce anything. It's a nice vision but would need Trumpy to make it work

He hinted as much on the Podcast.

My impression was basically ?the guys have don?t a great job with no support or money BUT when the time is right we?ll dump some coin in there as well as bringing in more people?

I hope that means that Ryan Campbell and the Zane Brothers (the 3 he mentioned by name), will be looked after and a role will still be there for them in some form or fashion. Maybe promote Ryan to the Senior Men?s in an Assistant role and give Zane a role in our currently non-existent scouting department.

    Gotta look after some locals.

Surely you jest, Campbell shouldn?t be anywhere near the woman?s programme let alone the men?s.

Maurice seemed to be a fan, I don?t know much of him tbh other than he has risen up the ranks over the last couple years.

Didn?t realise there was some negativity towards him.

Hey, see that kid at Adelaide? We should sign him. Archie Goodwin is his name apparently.

Wanted to go somewhere with more stability and a track record of bringing players on?

Well with no football for a bit just wanted to post an up-to-date squad list in here and put some thoughts next to those coming off contract who is worth resigning at this point in time.

    Expiring 24/25
18 Kota Mizunuma (option to sign on for next year) - Obviously a must sign, of all players in this list losing him would be the biggest blow
14 Dane Ingham - Move him on, and either sign a new starting RB, or go all in on Aquilina as a starter and sign a young NPL product as our backup
19 Callum Timmins - Move him on and replace him with a younger name who we can build up
20 Charles M'Mombwa (option to sign on for next year) - Hasn't been given as much game time as I'd like, but still thing he's worth a resign at this point in time
01 Ryan Scott - Assuming Noah James nails down the starting spot for next year, I think we could do worse then signing Scott for another year as an A-League quality back-up
23 Daniel Wilmering - Get rid of him. Sign a high quality starting LB and a youth product as the back-up.
10 Wellisol - Gone, I think he hasn't been given a fair shake and would love to see us at least try him and Rose up top which was the plan at the start of the season
06 Matthew Scarcella (Loan from SYD) - From what I can find, he's off contract with both us and Sydney this year. If we can keep him, I think he’s worth it for his versatility
13 Clayton Taylor - If he can mantain this back-end form, he's for sure worth signing up again, but I can easily see him wanting to move somewhere else.

    Expiring 25/26
    15 Aleks Susnjar
    21 Noah James
    17 Kosta Grozos
    39 Thomas Aquilina
    04 Phillip Cancar
    33 Mark Natta
    09 Lachlan Rose
    37 Lachlan Bayliss
    22 Ben Gibson
    25 Oscar Fryer

    Expiring 26/27
    07 Eli Adams

    Scholarships
    29 Justin Vidic - 24/25
    24 Alex Nunes - 25/26
    44 Ben van Dorssen - 25/26
    28 Will Dobson - 25/26

18 Kota Mizunuma (option to sign on for next year) - We need to trigger the extension. He's proved his capability and he offers more through his on field organisation. I would expect he is also supporting with off field leadership too.
14 Dane Ingham - I struggle to see how Dane fits in the team since the move to 3 at the back. He doesn't replace Mizunuma. He doesn't replace Aquilina/Cancar in the RCB role either. As a NZ international, he will be wanting to play. I think Dane moves on.
19 Callum Timmins - I think he moves on with Charles taking his place. Had his best game of the season last week, mind you. I could see him as a handy pick up for a team but when Susnjar comes back I think Grozos replaces him (and partners Bayliss)
20 Charles M'Mombwa (option to sign on for next year) - Handy option off the bench.
01 Ryan Scott - As Mark325, he's a very handy keeper. It would all be about money and ambition, I suspect. Scott is better than many of 1st choice keepers in the league at the moment so I don't think he will be short of offers.
23 Daniel Wilmering - I disagree about getting rid of him. His energy and athleticism on the left is incredible. He's reliably available. But where I do agree is that he needs competition. We're lacking in this space. I could even see a world where he explores overseas too but regardless we should attempt to re-sign.
10 Wellisol - I don't see a world where we activate the extension clause in his contract.
06 Matthew Scarcella (Loan from SYD) - I disagree with Mark325 (and because they're the only one to have shared their position so far - sorry Mark325), I wouldn't retain Scarcella despite his versatility.
13 Clayton Taylor - He's a priority re-signing. He's a valuable asset in the business plan of Maverick. If he was playing like he is now earlier in the season I suggest we'd have lost him in January. I'd be surprised if he's playing in this league next season.

I'm pretty much of the same mind as Jeterpool, but i'd be happy to see Timmins retained as a bit of investment for 2 years down the track. Grozos ain't getting younger.

Grozos is 24....? No chance for most of us on here if 26 is old

What about Bailey Wells surely he is as good if not better than some vying for midfield spots now

I get the vibe if Zads keeps his brissy job he’ll be going there. But, for one I don’t think Zads will keep that job, and surely if his local club offers him as good of a contract, and said local club is performing at a higher quality then he would surely be interested.
