I love this quote! But I personally do believe there is a huge difference in giving someone a "wage" over paying their rego.
What if they have to pay their rego but then get paid to play? What if their player payments are then less than their rego?
If it doesn't exceed the rego amount, than you're still not paying them over and above. I would consider it a reimbursement.

Alas you are wrong, there is a huge difference. One sees you getting paid (that's were you're in credit) the other sees you paying $0 or reduced by x$ to participate.

Sorry, no, it's all the same, you're paying them to play whether that money goes direct to the player or the club cuts out the middleman and gives the money direct to the association it is all the same. Anyone who tries to deny it is being intellectually dishonest.

By your logic, all clubs pay players (including junior teams, All age, O/35 etc) since the cost of rego is subsidised by sponsorship and other forms of income.

I am all for covering registration/paying players if clubs are financially viable to do so.
If someone is being paid a fee a week that equates to a registration fee, you would classify that as paying someone?s registration.

Email last night from Newy football, a couple of clubs are dragging the chain in responding to an email confirming numbers etc.
Draw will be done when these teams supply the info needed.
Several ZL clubs in recent times have been promoting on socials ?expressions of interest? etc.
This type of post isn?t encouraging. One would suggest a number of clubs are struggling to meet the quota on squad requirements.
Only need enough for two teams, we knew a few struggled to fill three.

You are not wrong. Some signing quality players (coming from NPL) and others losing existing ones for whatever reasons.
Hopefully the comp isn't divided between goo teams and struggling teams too early.
