So, does the winner of this now qualify for the prestigious NST?

    Is there some additional criteria?

Pretty sure they are just in as simple as that..they join 8 storied clubs who have permanent positions now, even if they don't win their NPL competition

Thanks, that was my interpretation also.

One of the articles seemed to list the teams as 8 foundational clubs and 8 invitational. Had a little bit of doubt that it could vary each year.

Does the funding for this come from FA now that they have endorsed it? Eg flights and accomm.

Going to be a long season for one club.
Also curious if NPL clubs here had much of a say on anything.

6 extra games at a minimum, extremely long season for one club. NPL players playing just as many if not more then A League players doesn't make much sense to me.

Since it is only the Premiers that go, surely the large prize money they get from Northern from winning the league can be used towards it.

    The $10K?

Worst case you draw Perth NPL winners in your group and have $500 pp flight for 20 players/essentials. There?s your $10K.

Best case you snag 2x Sydney teams and Melbourne (200pp flights = 4k, plus accomm)

Travel was always going to be the issue with a NST. It?s hard to justify the $$$ outlay for the benefit.
Maybe they just haven?t released enough info yet in terms of prize money and any support.

Just seems an added expenditure for clubs who may not have necessarily wanted this. (From memory Valentine, Olympic and Edgy were the only ones that ever expressed interest at varying stages).

Just curious how it is all going to work.

Is that all it is? I thought with clubs spending close to a quarter of a million dollars on players the prize money would be much higher.

A NNSW Select team would be good, send the best of the best with Northern footing the bill

I like the idea of the select team to represent. Do we have a national titles for state teams? get that going.

I wasn’t sure, but I was going off this article.

From 2024 in the NPL NNSW premiers will receive $10,000 while the grand final winners will receive $4,000.

So, could be $14K I guess.

Unclear if it’ll be the ‘minor’ or ‘major’ premiers.

The non-foundation clubs playing in the NST will be the Premiers. I.e. The team that finishes top of the table, not the grand final winner.

Went and watched Olympic Vs Sydney Olympic today...nice 4-2 win to the local boys (the 2 included a penalty for handball)

Obviously played in a friendly spirit, and I don't know how many reserve grade players got a run today in either team...

I have to say though, I felt like the real winner with those Souvlaki's from the canteen 😍

Yeah went and watched the Olympic game. Early days but Olympic looked very sharpe kale and hay make a big difference to the squad can see them being up the pointy end.

Good day out all round decent crowd.
