Also, all these claims last night that it was the first time since 2007 we've gone 7 undefeated in the league are wrong.
It was 2010, but it was a season where there were classified "mid week games".
Our run was:
1. Round 14 win v Adelaide 13/11/10
2. MW3 draw v BRisbane 17/11/10
3. Rd 15 win v Nix 20/10/10
4. Rd 16 draw v CCM 24/11/10
5. Rd 17 win v Fury 4/12/10
6. MW4 win v Heart 8/12/10
7. MW5 win v Gold Coast 15/12
Guess Jimmy didn't read my previous post! But hey, what do I know.
We have gone 8 undefeated - but that was back in 2001/02 when we were Newcastle United in the NSL. We opened the season with 8 straight wins (the streak went on for 12 undefeated matches) and did it again between Rd 16 and Rd 24 (9 match undefeated streak.

I think the claims last night were even saying 2005 as well JP. Good to know someone is keeping them accountable
Great defensive display. I thought we played well until the lightning break and then struggled after that (with the ball).
Charles I think showed last night why he hasn't been starting - he has looked good in the last 20 minutes amongst tired legs and with the game more scrappy and transition based, he struggled to fit in to our structured possession build up with a few bad turnovers.
Taylor could probably use half a game off, maybe him and Kota will split the game this weekend.
Agree with the shoutout to Aquilina, I've been thinking for a while now that he's been our best so far this season. He looked very good early playing on the wing, and has still done a solid job now moved back into the backline.
Yeah it was 2005 because Ben was talking about Richard Money. My mistake. And yes there was a run back in 2005 - it just wasn't the last time we did it.
I've also just run the numbers and we've taken 18 points of the last 30. Not a bad run.
Last night was Thomas Aquilina's 50th competitive appearance for the club too (46 A-League and 4 Australia Cup). I did send it through to the club, but it was pretty late. There are a few players with milestones coming up too.
Taylor will play his 50th competitive in his next appearance. Wilmering is on 46. Grozos is on 95.

Could be worth giving Dobson a decent run on Sunday as well, he’s shown good promise and it’s a shame that he’s been seldom seen since that starting performance against Sydney
ever since I posted about what players to keep on the squad thread, I’ve been more and more impressed with Timmins who seems to keep growing in quality. He’s playing the best football he’s ever played for us, and on merit alone it would be hard to argue he deserves another contract by seasons end if he can keep it up.
Well well well, a lot of luck and a lot of hard graft brings good things. I thought everyone put in a good shift but always looked like we would get flogged. Best for me were James, Cancar and Taylor, who must have ran twice as far as anyone else, knocking peas off chops everywhere. And of course Rosey, great finish
We seem to have about 20 minutes to get a goal, and then we start losing the energy to keep the effort up.
Some absolutely brilliant defending by the backline. Cancar and James. However, most of the super saves were required because we passed it straight to them.
We rode our luck, but maybe we're getting some return on poor luck we got in games earlier this season.
Leckie should not have stayed on the pitch. Thought the referee had a less than satisfactory game.
I've been thinking about what the remedy is for this, and for me, I feel like both Adams and Taylor being the main generators of attack doesn't work for me. Both are young and inexperienced, and the only experienced attacker we have is Mizunuma. So, give him a shot in Adams position, he has more poise and I think a stronger ability to control the game if he's working slightly higher up the pitch down the centre then out wide. Put Aquilina at RWB who himself has done a good job generating attacking scenarious for us down that side, and have Adams be a bench player who can bring an energy off the pitch that is sorely lacking for us, bringing with him an ability to change the game.
