I have been to both Derby Day and Cup Day. Derby Day is far superior racing-wise, as we all know, but is also a far better day out.

In answer yes it was tomorrow at the time of the question, barrier draw this morning field of 9 but it doesn't matter where any of them are drawn.

Winx to clean up and my 40-50 futures bets to come in!!

i'd like to welcome skipper's new east wing to the world

strange day down there yesterday, looked for all money that the rails were gawn first two races, then it was rails on fire all day

big tick to ryan maloney on Eptimum for toby edmonds, pulled their pants down

Blake Shinn rode out of his skin. what a performance.

what more do you say about winx? track record, three in a row off a decent clip. bowman awful all day but got it absolutely perfect in the big dance

also 2.80 for Kitasan Black in a rain affected Tenno Sho (R11 - Tokyo) looks very decent to me.

Sciacchetra at 7.60 to run a hole should get snapped up

    what a field

It was a great effort by Winx - She did not look happy in the going though - track was very firm as the time confirmed. If the track had a little more give in it the time would have been slightly slower but she would have won by 5 lengths or so.

Humidor didn't surprise me yesterday - he's the best horse over 2400m in the country and by a very clear margin as well. Forget his effort in the Caulfield Cup - it's a race for milers not 2400m and beyond horses.

If his mind is on the job then I cannot see anything troubling him on Melbourne Cup day. His breeding alone is pretty much perfect - shame they had to cut him.

Got on marshmellow at $18's other than some trifectas and 1st 4's will be my only bet in the race.

I've lost a lot of money over the years on the Melbourne Cup.

The winners for me have been: Think Big, Gold and Black, and Jezabeel.

Had some seriously big losses on Natski and Kingston Town.

This year will be no different.
