it used to piss me off when I was playing, you might be offside just past half way then you sprint for the ball and get called up near the goal line.
its a killer especially in the later end of the game when your more exhausted.
Put your flag straight away when I attempt to run for it you little nerds. lol

Worst thing is when the player is offside at halfway but does “get involved “ with the play, I.e touch the ball, until inside the box so the linesman put his flag up then so the free kick it 30m closer to goal than it should be. As soon as the defender has to turn and run you have been involved with the play....if he tears a hammy chasing a bloke that was 2m offside at halfway I’d be ****ing fuming.

Fabinho off with a hamstring. Doesn’t look severe, but could see conservative few weeks out.

Who are we thinking will go in there peep? The position is cursed!
    Nat Phillips?
Has Rhys Williams shown enuf in Champions League?
I've read Hendo has been considered.
lol Wonder how 'the Enforcer' Milner would go? It's always talked up he can play any position.

I think he will give Williams or Phillips a go.
Don’t know too much about Phillips. He’s given Williams a run in the league cup and now Champions league. So I suspect he sees something he wants to develop.

Don’t know about Henderson. Think he’s better suited to our midfield especially with no Fabinho. His work rate would be missed.

Milner would be a maybe? Idk.
Good week to trial somebody there.

Think we pretty much need a specialist defender to play CB. Wonder if Tskaimis (whatever his name is) or TAA would be considered to fill CB and N Williams on RB.

Think we will stick with one of our two CB options until they screw up.

Nat Phillips looked pretty comfortable in the cursed position.
Nice ball from Shaq to Jota. Shaq deserves a start soon if he can stay fit. Livewire.

    Haven’t watched the game yet.
Did you see Shaq in UCL?
Bloke was blowing hard at the 50-60 mark.
Front 3 of Jota, minamino and Shaq looked impotent.

Also, Adama traore, what’s going on there? No goals. Meant to be next best thing. Haven’t watched their games but he got 15 minutes last game. Wonder if his price has dropped now.

Shaqiri was very good second half, him and Jota did well with their minutes
November’s schedule looks farkin nightmarish, lots of travels and no ‘easier’ matches, in a compacted calendar too. Sure hope the boys stay injury free. Would be nice to have Thiago/Keita/Matip back sooner rather than later too (without any risk of re-injury, of course).

Had a gutful of this "he feels contact so goes down" rubbish. Players are now even criticised if they try to stay on their feet.

Jimmy Hill once talked of the "spirit" of the law versus the "letter" of the law - that is where the big change is with modern football.

In the spirit of the law, Mo dived. In the letter of the law there was contact so he was obliged to fall over.

Jota's settled in well. An excellent piece of recruitment so far.

    Agree.
Imo, sets minamino back a few steps. Looks a better option to come on. Origi and minamino really need to solve a problem for us this season if they are gonna be retained.
I’m still not sold on Shaqiri. Consistency. Never know whether he’s gonna be threading passes and lashing shots or puffed after 5 minutes.
Clean sheet v Atalanta a good outcome.
Will allow us to relax a little.
Another win and we should finish top.
Will help our fixture congestion a little not needing to play top 11 every game.

The law does say you have to fall to the ground when kicked to earn a free kick or penalty so if referees called the law how it is players wouldn’t need to “dive” to earn free kick.....also if grown men can’t stay on their feet when someone farts near them then that’s a joke as well and simulation should be called.....both sides of it are shite but it is how it is

Mane dives again. If its not him its Salah. Premier League refs need to do something about it

Cmon Stanny, don’t throw them stones or your glass house comes crashing down.

Was there contact? Looked like it. Penalty stands. Soft I agree.
This is the sport now unfortunately.
There’s no incentive to try and stay on your feet. Look at Sterling, got contact, took some steps and thought he could get a shot off, realised he couldn’t, fell. No cigar.

This is the problem....everyone seems to just grudgingly accept everything from MSM to FIFA and IFAB.

The lack of passion is getting more and more apparent. I watch few live games now.

And the only time I had the old jump out of the seat to celebrate feeling this year was Topor's goal.

    Just read it on ThisIsAnfield...
    Ffs!!!

Robbo has potentially 3 games in 8 days (Serbia, Slovakia n Israel) then back for Leicester, 11 days...then Atalanta....
Hope he gets a break in there.

Robbo - Fab - Matip - Milner?? Wonder how long that would last.
    Jurgen: Ring ring..."Ja, hallo Michael...."

    I think it will be:

Neco Williams - Matip - Rhys Williams/Nat Phillips - Robertson (with Tsimikas playing v Atalanta)

Yehhhh we have to be in for somebody in the January window surely.
Upamecano, Ben white and Koulibaly (linked to anybody) were all mentioned preseason.

Some things I’ve read afterwards suggest this could be pretty serious too.
“Nobody was around, it’s never a good sign”
Probably Sterling did a Pickford on him.

    My moneys on another acl.
Best case, some lateral ligament or meniscus and 6-8 weeks
