Someone will probably beat me to posting the news article the Jets have just put out about Ryan, so I will just say:

Why the fxxx are we letting him go on a free when he still has over a year left on his contract? Did he really hate it so much here? Does the club not rate him so poorly that they won't even ask for a fiver?

    Far out.

Agreed, Who gives away a starting XI with no compensation. This club is a joke, Tinks could have paid off the ATO debt with the sale FFS!

Mark Marino. Makes perfect sense... currently at AIS, part of U16 squad. Sign him up, Gazza.

So it's officially a free? Or still speculation?
This will determine my reaction to it all.
    Club multis please confirm figure.
    Cheers.

Tis official, based on the wording of the presser.

Newcastle Jets striker Ryan Griffiths has decided to join Beijing Baxi FC, leaving the Jets effective immediately.

Griffiths requested a release from his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the 2013/14 season.

“It is disappointing to lose a player like Ryan but we didn’t want to stand in his way when making this move was important for his family,” CEO Robbie Middleby said.

“Any transfer decision is case-by-case, and as Ryan has been weighing up a move to China for some time, we understand his decision.

“Ryan has been a great player for the Club and we wish him well at Beijing Baxi.”

Griffiths departs the Jets after playing 55 games for the Club.

“This was a hard decision because I love this Club and town but I needed to consider my young family and do what is best for them, and right now that is going to play in China,” Griffiths said.

“I will always appreciate the management of the Jets for supporting me at this point in my career.

“One of the great things about the Club is that at any time you can sit down, talk about your problems or opportunities and they will discuss it and attempt to come up with the best scenario or outcome for all concerned.”

Coach Gary van Egmond is disappointed to lose Griffiths but understands his decision.

“While our preference was for Ryan to stay, we understand at 32 years of age, going over to China now secures his family financially,” van Egmond said.

I'm not unhappy, I think he has been very average for most of this season! If he had been playing great than I'd be pissed!
Better to get rid of a player who is not in form and doesn't want to be here than keep him!

So now we have mining companies designing a mining tax, licensed clubs designing pokie reform and players running our clubs transfer policy?

Van Egmond and Middleby will have tremendous success as Labor politicians once they leave.
What a pack of spineless, amateurs we have running our club.
Can handle he's gone, can't handle we got **** all for it.

    Absolute suckers.

Free transfer is crazy business. Let him go, fine, but at least make some coin from the transfer. Irrespective of whether people rate him or not, he was starting each game and if the Chinese wanted him that bad, make them pay.

I get the bad feeling something ugly is going on behind the scenes. Jobe walked before the end of his contract, Griff wanted out, whos next or are we lining up for another offseason wondering if we have a club?
