finally we can annouce that Cooks Hill United have won the H Grade grand final
the 0-1 result on the day was overturned because Largs used a ring-in player
not the way anyone wants to win but it's good that Newcastle Football took our complaint seriously and accepted the overwhelming evidence
well we only noticed the one player who wasn't eligible, and he was only recognised because his brother used to play for us
and yep, agree about the photo ID - the information is all there on myfootballclub so it could simply be printed out on an A4 and brought to the ground
instead we had to provide photographs from the game showing his face and the number on his back
it's a pretty poor system when you have to prove all that after the game when an ID card would have prevented him taking the field in the first place and the game would have been decided on the day
farcical scenes after the game when said ring-in was recognised, hid his face and drove off without reciving a medal with the rest of his team - had to go to work was the story given at the time
but what really made me pursue all this was seeing them celebrating with their kids after the game - what sort of message does that send the youngsters that it's ok to cheat to win? in All Age H grade for crying out loud
how come you don't do the ID card thing up in newy?
we do it every match in the CDSFA - no card, no play, the linesman walk up and down and take the cards before the match and hand them back at the end
at getting a ring-in for an H grade grand final, how desperate can you be
they phased ID cards out a few years back
the whole current process with registration through myfootballclub and the FFA, as well as sportingpulse is a little bit of a mess to be honest, but it is getting incrememntally better each season
there really is nothing stoping a club from registering someone under a false name, or changing the online photograph every time they want to use a ring-in
just you wait until next pre-season
we'll win the plate now we have a keeper
the whole fiasco could only be repeated if Stu had a brother and we had him fill in for us
then he'd have to run off after the game hiding his face, pretending that he had to go to work so urgently that he couldn't wait 5 minutes to recieve his medal
I'm afraid we have a higher ethical standard than that, also we're not that utterly stupid
Anyone playing O35 that takes things too seriously needs to reevaluate their life.
