They are well coached- they know their system and the system works. They have a shoe string budget, lose players etc but the patterns remain. This is why Egg is completely useless- we still have no observable obvious approach. The most basic thing that any manager gets together is set pieces- ours, after too long with this imposter, are an ad hoc mess. The rest follows a predictable pattern. the Mariners are top of the league and they have the most recognizable style. That's because they know it well. Our coach has the most recognizable excuses.

I still think we've gotten our fair share of goals from set-pieces aside from penalties, but I won't argue with you that outside of these goals we look pretty shit with them. Probably doesn't help that we don't have a decent 'dead-ball specialist' in the line-up now that Jesic has fallen out of favour
In all seriousness though, I couldn't care less about our set-pieces at the moment, there's far more important issues to be worried about with the team imo.

Depends what the fall out is for missing the top 6... if it's GvE's head on a pike outside Hunter Stadium (which isn't much of a fort these days), I would be pretty chuffed with missing out.
i'd rather we beat the teams we should beat to make the 6, wellington and perth, and take points off melbourne and adelaide.
