Right, so qualification is knocked over pretty soon then...I really hope we get England, should they qualify.

apart from that not being possible

We can basically write off any chance of getting a point against whichever top-seed team we draw. 4 points and favourable other results seems to be the only chance we're going to get out of group stage - so a win and a draw against whoever else we draw. I can't see us going any good at all tbh.

NZ might be in our group if they get past concacaf

I wish NZ had to play the 5th placed South American side like we had to. 4th in CONCACAF is much easier IMO

Much can happen in 12 months - in 2005 Griff and Ljubo were in the Uruguay squad and neither have been seen since !!

Timmy wasn't in the starting 11 back then either and nobody had heard of Kennedy.

Really think we need to work on Rogic every game possible, and Oar. Defensively, who can challenge the guys there now ?

I don't think it's always Oceania play CONCACAF.

From what I'm led to believe there are 4 confederations that get 0.5 spots: Oceania (0.5), CONCACAF (3.5), CONMEBOL (5.5 inc Brazil), AFC (4.5). I am under the impression that FIFA put the four federations in a hat and draw out who plays who. I think it used to be pre-determined, but for this WC they drew out of a hat.

FWIW 4th place in CONCACAF could go to anyone still. If I were NZ I'd be particularly scared of drawing Mexico

As much as you can find fault in our current team I wouldn't right them off.

Sure the likes of Spain Germany Brazil Argentina will thump us

England are beatable Italy can be average in group stages (ask NZ) the Dutch we match up well against and the French with their ethnic diverse side are likely to be split on racial lines and disharmony as they have been in recent tournys

Any of these 4 teams we could get points out of if we play well.

Never forget Aussies aim up when not expected to achieve

Captain Obvious seems to be asleep at the wheel so let me answer this.
    Travel is expensive.

Spoke to the bloke from Newy who organised our trip to Germany 06 with and hes got 60 going over in 2014. From memory his prices are about $15k but included match tickets. He was saying how frigging difficult it is to get from point a to point b in Brazil (its a pretty big place) and that just to secure rooms/transfers etc its a bomb of money. Knowing how quickly he sold it out and how many people are on his waiting list (even before Aust qualified) he could probably have jacked up his prices a lot more and still filled his quota. Simple supply and demand.
Also unless you get official ballot tickets from FFA you need to pay black market rates. for Germany it meant about $800-$1000 per ticket.

Having said that in 06 I got to see all 4 Aust games and had a month in germany that was priceless. Some things are worth the money to some people.

Yeah been doing a bit of research on it.

Hotels seem to be ****ing insane and ripping people off better than you would expect they could honestly achieve. I know its a big place with poor infrastructure so plane flights would be dear.

Honestly for what is a 3rd world country I am blown away by the extortion going on here. 2 weeks in a 3rd world country and you are coughing up that figure?? FMD. I know FIFA are involved here but FFS
