Sent it off just before Easter, so yours shouldn't be far away.

As for the money the Cash Passports that pv4 suggest are indeed the way to go. I'm in the travel industry and dealt with these a fair bit. If you load it up at an agency they may charge you a fee (was 1% when I was in retail, but we actually never charged it) however if you load up the minimum amount and BPAY the rest on the BPAY'd amount has no fees at all.

Have used the cards in various places such as Fiji, Thailand, New Zealand and Indonesia and have never had any trouble with them at all. I'm just going to load one card up in AUD and deal with the currency conversion fees (which aren't even that bad). The thing I like about them is that they aren't linked to you bank account so you're A) not paying interest on what you spend; and B) if stolen can only get to what is loaded on the card (even then they give you 2 cards with 2 individual PIN numbers so that you can cancel the lost/stolen one and carry on with the other.

    Should be able to comfortably.

Have 31 flights lined up on the trip.

Should be able to knock something up to post by saving it on the tablet whilst sitting on ****ing planes or sitting waiting for planes at ****ing airports. Post the thing when I find some Wifi

31 flights, that is insane! I'm doing 15 and that includes connecting flights, and I'm away for 8 weeks, taking in Chile, Bolivia and Argentina as well as Brazil.

We're going to be catching a few buses through certain places (Argentina and Bolivia, mostly) and the buses are cheap as and have fully reclining seats that turn into beds (almost).

Leave Friday next week. Cannot wait. Trying to grab tickets to Chile v Egypt friendly the day we get into Santiago, or failing that, we are in Valparaiso for a few days and Chile play Northern Ireland.

Didn't pay delivery for tickets, picking them up when we get to Rio in a fortnight.

I have been working my arse off for the last 12 months. Saving heaps. Missing out on doing heaps also. That's where the money has come from. $250 per week put away from pay into an account to pay for trip. Anytime extra shifts have popped up at work I have been doing them. Any extra money I earned above the norm went straight into the account. Couple of things in life I have changed what I normally do just to save a few bob here and there. Pulled together about 5k to start things off when I decided to go which was on the train back from the Iraq game

Got a small loan just to alleviate things so I ain't eating 2 minute noodles whilst I am there but I made it!!!

Already of the opinion I will be going to Russia. The thing is a bit of a hook!!! That should be a lot cheaper with accommodation/flights/transport etc Big issue with that will be tickets. They will be a lot harder to come by.

I am allowed 2 suitcases up to 23kg and I am only taking 1.

If you are under 23kg and can fit into a suitcase like that bloke on Oceans 11 I will check you in next Friday.

    Curitiba
    Santa Cruz
    Sucre
    La Paz
    Rurrenabaque
    Buenos Aires
    Rosario
    Cordoba
    Mendoza
    Santiago
    Sydney

Decided I won't be wearing a Jets shirt on a plane at all.

Wear one to a Jets game and look at the misfortune that brings.

Wouldn't want to inflict that suffering on others!!!

All up away for 49 days.
    Get back 18th July

Sydney to Montevideo on the one day.

Don't know now what I was thinking. I have an extra stopover of 2 hours in the airport in Santiago and then another 2 hour flight to Montevideo after the 3 hours to NZ and 11 1/2 to Chile. Gonna be a long ****ing day

    Buenos Aires
    Iguassu Falls
    Rio
    Cuiaba
    Porto Alegre
    Florianopolis
    Curtibia
    Sao Paulo
    Rio
    Belo Horizante
    Sao Paulo
    Buenos Aires
    Santiago
    Sydney

Throw in a few day trips to Curtibia Belo and Brasilia and Colonia in Uruguay in that

    - $7k on flights (granted if I was just doing the world cup and going straight home that'd be more like $4k)
    - $3100 for the world cup "tour" part
    - $1100 on match tickets

Plus a few grand more for the month I'm staying on to travel after the world cup has finished and then another $5k for money to blow on coke and hookers.

I did this too (back in 2012), but flew to Lima from Santiago. It's not as bad as it sounds, that last 2-3 hour leg. Make sure you're awake during the flight into Santiago - the mountains are probably the most beautiful scenery I've seen on a flight. Also check out some of the shops in Santiago airport - I got some sweet lacoste & tommy hilfiger gear for dirt cheap in there.
